Sorted out the last problems

Servo glued to nikon, simple but effective. Sportsmode setting. Getting good results now.

The first shot defines the settings for the following shots. That is why the results are better if the first shot is made in flight.

Getting more and more images

New field, new images...

The first 3 are from the local golfglub. The next ones are from a new field near where I live.

Awesome plane and awesome pics! Keep up the good work and picture posting! I especially like the picture foto2 with the cluster of houses in the center of the frame, surrounded by vibrant green fields...makes me wish it was still nice weather here. Sigh.

Very cool!

It looks like a model train country side. Please give us some info on how you edited the images. I must say the second image is very cool. Great Idea!

Hutwill 2011

So this was the 5th Hutwill airshow for this model. Currently it carries 2 nikon coolpix s3100. One vertical and one looking out the side. Still flies well, and makes good pictures.

Hutwil 2012

This year the pictures were not too good, but the plane still works fine. 2 Nikon coolpix 3100, one vertical, one low oblique

Ardupilot and 5.8 gHz Video Upgrade

I am so happy with the airframe of my 2006 design that I am currently using it to test fly my ardupilot with telemetry and OSD.

In general I am still amazed at how well the plane has stood the test of time. It is not overly heavy, but very solid. I am now starting a new one based in the same outlines, but:

1) a bigger "cargo" hold in the middle. (with Graupner HOTT, Telemetry, Video, OSD and GPS Logger the space requirements have outgrown the original design( thats three gps antennas, and 3 transmiters on board!!)
2) the engine will be in front outside, better cooling
3) the servos will be nearer the tail, easier servicing
4) the plane may be about 15% bigger.
5) aft avionic hold, behind cargo bay bulkhead.

I may also after 7 years of AP stop using nikon coolpix as my in flight cameras. Despite beeing cheap and having the sportsmode, I feel that the image quality is realy laging behind.

It will be fun relearning to build a classical wood plane once again!!

More Progress

Wing finished, fusalage 80% finished.

Tricicle Undercarrige, because i need a level plane when I boot the autopilot.

Got the Canon ixus 125 to test if it will be suited for AP.
