Aero Photography Forum??

Looks like a lot of e-flyers are experimenting with lightweight digital cameras for aireal photography.

How about a seperate forum for aireal photos, and related planes, building/shooting tips, etc??

Man, when I picked up that camera and took a few aerial photos and posted a thread about it, I had now idea it would be so popular! I think Aiptek and Best Buy owe me alot of money!

I'm not saying that I'm an expert on the subject yet, but if an aerial photography forum did open up I'd be happy to moderate it if no one else wants to.

The topic comes and goes like new planes do. I am sending over to Suggestions/Complaints forum.

That is where it belongs.

Steve's got a very nice website, but it's pics only.

Same for me here, would me happy to work as moderator for as long as it lasts. I have the feeling things are just getting started in this area.

I think the point was that the site is only for pics, still or moving. I.e. it does not have any facility for discussing how one takes the pictures, the best cameras etc.

Not that I'm convinced that a forum is needed. Although there are one or two threads around at the moment they seem to fit perfectly well in the existing forums.

Sorry I brought it up. It was just a thought.

If you take the time to do a search on 'Pencam', for example, you get two full pages of results with lots of views on many of the topics (ie Major altitude tonight...). It's just that they are scattered over several forums, which makes finding them a bit more time consuming, especially for those of us cursed with agonizingly slow dial-up connections.

I guess I'll just continue posting photos according to the type of plane that took them. Now, is the Gym-E an indoor flyer that can be flown outside, or a parkflyer that can be flown inside, and if I take the photos with the power off, does it belong in the gliders forum?

Sorry, my response came across wrong.

Steve clarified it for me.

I am so into aerial video that I would definitely love a separate forum. For now, I diligently search all the posts for the words "aerial video" and "aerial photography"

Yb2-

I absolutely love the video stuff you have done. I've watched the one with the cub flying through your neighborhood numerous times. Have you done any more of those?

Not recently... I've been experimenting with homemade antenna's on the ground so most of my flying has been to really stretch the altitude of the system. I have to get a bigger plane, I'm to impatient to wait for my Wingo to get to altitude.

No, you should post them in the Gallery, NOT the forums. That's why it's there. Then you could reference them (and even include them from there) in posts in the discussion forums.

yb: the Cutie makes a great platform, with an appropriate brushless power system (I use Kontronik 400/22, 8xCP1300, 9x5).

Great idea, but better get the word out. I searched the galleries and found (count 'em) three aerial photos.

There were NO explanations on how they took the pictures, what planes, motors, props, batteries or cameras they used, how they activated the cameras. You know, the kind of stuff you come to E-zone to read about??

It's already been pointed out that there are several great gallery web pages floating around, but the interactivity isn't there.

Just my $0.02

Respectfully,
theKAT
