Thats exactly how I would make mine. I have a 26g Strong CDR and an 8x6 just waiting to go onto one of them....

Good setup?

I'm getting one of these wings (the small version) and I'm thinking of this setup:

The "stock" Swift Power Pack-300, it's a speed 300 geared 1:5 with a 8x6 prop...

JETI Jes 012, 12 amp ESC...

7,4v Lipos, 800 mAh, 15C...

Hitec Hs-55 servos...

What do you experienced people think?
Anything too wimpy or overkill?
Will it fit/balance nicely?
Opinions/suggestions?

Hi Myrslakt,
My first Swift had about the same setup (Speed 300 1:5,....). I didn't like it much. I had a lot of fun after switching to brushless.

Would a Robbe Roxxy 2824/26 be something? It's a 1380 kV outrunner. It weights 48 Grams.
Or the 2824/34? That's a 1100 kV outrunner.

What will produce more power? A 2824/26 with 7x4 GWS prop. Or a 2824/34 with 8x4 GWS prop. And will it be enough for the Swift II??

Finally got mine flying today. I used HS-55's and a GWS 2205-15T with the GWS 15A ESC. I went cheap and it seems to work well. Oh, I'm running a GWS 8040 and a TP 2S1320 PL. Seems to work well. I need to increase my aileron throws to make it more fun but other than that it seems to be an OK setup, especially for the money!

I fly mine with a Hobby Lobby 400xt outrunner and it is awesome! Only a $25 motor! Unlimited vertical with a 3 cell Thunder Power 910 lipo and an APC 8x6 slow flyer prop. Also, two e-flite servos and a castle creations phoenix 10 esc. I had to add some ballast under the battery to make it ballance so, I think a 3 cell Thunder Power 1320 would be ideal. With the 910 mah Thunder Power I get 30 minutes of flying if I just cruise but only 10 minutes if a really ring it out. This is one of the best flying wings I have ever had. It has quickly become the club favorite and is replacing the old favorite, the gws slow stick. MS Composit hit a home run with this one!

I tried it again today but with a 3S 1320 and an APC 5.1 x 4.5 (I think) and it was a bit more fun. I think I'll stick with the 3S setup for now.

OK, more different set-ups tried.
I've come to like a 3S 910 and an APC 6x4. I've also cranked up the throws.
The thing is a riot with the CG about 3/8" behind the recommended position. The thing will almost loop in its length! I have the battery just press fit into the foam which is no longer adequate I found out when I ejected the battery after a full throttle dive and a full up elevator loop that ejected the battery and sent it at least 120'-130' away! The wing was at only about 10' AGL when it happened too. This thing is a blast and it went together CHEAP! Great bang for the buck!

Maybe brushless is the way to go...

I can have the Swift II + AXi 2208/26 SILVER + JES12 ECO for about $130... sounds like a good deal to me!

But I don't understand if this setup is for 2 or 3 cells...?
Maybe both would be OK?

2 or 3 cells won't matter. The AXI performs well with both.

Really? That's great!

I guess I'll have to prop up or down depending on voltage...

Any hints?

No, there is no need to prop down. The AXI 2208 series is very capable of handling an 8x6 all the way up to a 10x4.7 prop on two or three cells. I personally run an 8x6 on my swift with a three cell lipo and it has loads of power. Alternativly, it would still fly well with a two cell. You can't go wrong, it will fly very well with either setup.

Oh, the reason I run an 8x6 prop is because there isn't enough room for anything bigger.

Thanks a lot Brian!

There seems to be no end to the good news!

I'll order this setup tonight, together with some 8x6 props... which I guess will be of the APC brand... would that be "plain vanilla" 8x6, 8x6e or 8x6sf...?

I'm sure the AXI performs better but a hundred dollars better??? The GWS setup was only $30.
