Its nice to have a plan and a build log to help with the build.

I'm a fan of 2m gliders though, so the first thing I've done is taken some licence and enlarged the plans 135% to 2025mm WS. I'll also build the hotliner wing as I want ailerons... I'm not much of a fan of E/R only. I would like to have the glide properties of the non aileron wing aerofoil though so I might play with using the normal wing aerofoil with the hotliner wing layout. I havn't studied the different aerfoils closely yet so there might not be much difference anyay.

Hope you don't mind the enlarging bit and possible aerofoil mods on your original design Mitja
I dont disagre with that brave decision of yours! In fact, I already made some drawings about future evolution of Guppy type of sailplane!
As I already mention the "Hotliner wing"(airfoil RG 14) for the very same fuselage, I plan also the "Thermal wing" that will be of increased wingspan (one aditional rib bay each side of centerline) with ailerons and improved airfoil (original was Aquilla, now it will be different).

I also have idea of a tiny Guppy with wingspan of 1 m, but it will be way off proportions comparing to original outlines.

I also want to made a large Guppy, with wingspan about 2,5m (100").

100" Guppy (on left) compared to original Guppy outlines (on right).
For now only as an idea..no blueprints yet.
For that large GuppyXL I will not simply enlarge the original Guppy internal structure. Internal structutre will be different and more elaborate, to achieve proper strenght and lightweight. But overall apearance will remain similar.

Here in my country, Guppy seems to be a Summer HIT, because all CNC KIT-s are sold as soon they came from the workshop.
Guppy already participate on twoRC modellers Airshows, and that increase interes for that sailplane.

As you see, many things happened, and I am happy to see such wonderfull things take place!

Regards!

Mitja

Mitja,

I'm not able to download Rupert's video.
The link you've posted asks for login and password.

On "Megaupload" you dont need any pasword to download the video.

Just leave password and username aside!

You must read 3 characters that apears (every time different) and type them manually in the right window. Then you just clik start download.. and Voila!!

The wing in rupert's video looks like a poly wing.
Is it a poly wing with ailerons or a flat "hotliner" wing?

The Guppy on that video was Rupertīs first modification of Guppy wing. He use planform and airfoil of "original" and add ailerons. Poly wing is not needed with ailerons, so Rupert lowered tips quite a bit, but not flattened it complete.

On second Guppy, he build "hotliner" version of wings, but again incorporate one of his modifications...his wings are in two parts with joiner in the middle.

I do other stuff for my living, so this activities around Guppy Kit are just my hobby. So I work on that at my spare time.
I must prepare some new drawings, and write complete assembly manual in English. There will be some perspective drawings for assembly steps, so builder will not have problems.
