GWS P-51 freeflight kit review

I saw this on tower for 20.00, was ordering other stuff so figured what the heck.
I have built a few of the P-40 Cox Micro warbird's and really liked how they fly with the aileron mod, battery hatch mod, and lipo.

Specs: Length 20.2 in
wingspan 24.5 in
weight 4.94 oz
wing loading .044 oz / sq in
motor mabuchi FK-130SZ with gear down motor unit
Comes with small Nicad pack and a DC charger ( in the trash it goes )

The box isn't much bigger than a plastic model box. The wing folds in half and this will allow the builder to pick the dehedral he wants. The cox mini wings make it real hard to do that mod. Landing gear is included and two sizes of spinners and 2 props.

This kit is not quite up to par as its larger brother 35" size kits, it is however a free flight model, will probably be very underpowered stock, perfect for butchering and modification.

The dings in the wing were from poor packing, but are easily filled with some balsa filler. The nose is one piece and it appears a little fitting will be required.

The lines are not real clear where the ailerons, flaps and rudder are but should be clear enough to make the cuts needed for mods.

Pros: wing can be adjusted to any dehedral
20.00 cost is a great price
more room for electrics than the cox micros
landing gear included
nice decals

Cons: Packaging may result in extra dings in wing mostly during shipping
Will need to provide all electrics to make a good flying bird
Gearbox gearlash is so bad the teeth barely touch (not using anyway)
NO instructions found, we don't need no stinking instructions!
I have no clue why they put little dimple holes in the rear sides of the
fuse halfs

Here is what I will install in the near future

Two HS-55 or JR 241 servos
Johnson 250 or Great Planes 180 motor
2 cell 700 mah battery
Pixie 7 ESC
Cirrus MK4 RX or another small one
micro antenna

may entertain the idea of a small brushless motor
may do aileron mod, but rudder looks large enough
Hoping to come out under 8 oz

Should have time to start build in 2 weeks!
