broken wing dowel, any suggestions

In moving from Dallas to San Antonio, one of my rear-wing rubberband dowels mysteriously broke on my miss2. Any suggestions on a repair? Would epoxy stand up to the strain the rubberbands put on it? Can I fly it with only the criss-cross rubberbands? Thanks, Cruzomatic

Dont repair it, remove what is left of the whole dowel, you can try flushing off what is left of the dowel either side of the fuz and carefully drilling a slightly smaller size than the dowel dia. into centre of the dowel just thro the fuz, then break out what is left in the fuz sides, this way you may retain same size dowel, then fix it with your
favourite glue, some people dont glue them in
just a tight fit, that would have saved you a lot of trouble replacing your broken one.

Twist the dowl and break the glue joint then remove the broken dowl and install a new one.Lightly glue in a new one such that it can be removed quickly. The strength is not in the glue joint but the dowl; use glue to keep it from sliding out.

Cut off old dowel flush with fuselage, drill new hole next to old dowel, insert new dowel and glue to old dowel and fuselage sides.

Nah re drill it and put in larger dowel with epoxy or pva.

IMO, the best way to remove broken wing dowels is to bore the broken dowel out with a piece of sharpened brass tubing the same diameter as the dowel. This way you don't have problems with a normal twist drill trying to "walk" off-center, and you get a nice smooth hole that's ready for the replacement dowel.
