Question
Tips for new wing to old fuselage?
I've bagged a new wing and want to attach it to a fuselage that already has the holes drilled and tapped from the previous wing. How do I do it?
I've read a long time ago about a technique where steel screws (same size as the wing hold-down screws) have the heads cut off and the tops are shaped into a point. These modified screws are then screwed into the existing holes, then the wing is gently pressed down on top of the pointed screws so that a depression is made into the wing. Then the holes can be drilled out using the depressions as a reference. Do I have all the steps correct? Is there a better technique? What are your thoughts? Please let me know... Thanks!! Eric |

Eric, That is basically the way I do it. The only difference is that I use nylon bolts sharpened to a point. Make sure you spend some time getting the wing square to the fuse and level to the tails. Good Luck.
