Who's up for Dirty Deeds

I know I said I didn't think I could do better than the Soma bipe but he it is, Dirty Deeds. You'll see that I angled the outer struts 5 degree's, this helps the tracking even tho you'll need a minor touch of rudder input during turns. Its performance is way beyoind beyond what I ever could have imagined.

Hmmmm, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap! I think I like it TOG. I just may have to build one, especially since my Soma III is getting pretty ratty looking. I will have to build it our of FFF since I am completly out of Depron and can't afford to buy any in the near future. Middle son is getting married this week and I think you can guess where all of my money has gone. <grin>

I'm like you Jerry, after my latest crash with my Soma I might need to build a new one. One good thing about my latest crash is that it's easier to knife edge than ever

I like the mod you did to the stab aelevator, i'll try it on the next one TOG

I flew last night about midnight and had some problems, but worked them out today

Rigging?? Right thrust??

Now my DD is straight up. I went with carbon tube down the fuse but added two 1mm rods from the tail to the outer wing struts. If you look hard you can see them in the first photo.

Dirt cheap was the first name I was going to use as the foam was found.

well its this way!

I used a super sloppy blue foam wich needed the extra bracing !
And the right thrust ment no rudder coupling in hover..........

I have a video , not good . but video ! I am working to put the software back into my computer to work on it and post later...................

Then , well, I have no more to say!!!!!!

Hahahaha TOG I know what you mean. Actually it's only 12 mph right now, guess I can take one of the wings out for a quick flight.

Actually just got back in from 2 flights. The wind slowed down to just under 5mph. Hovering still ended up wandering across the field but nice. Seems like I might get so night flying in tonight up at the school as the wind seems like its gonna die out as darkness hits.

Back to the plane. I tried a couple differant CG locations and for all around fun the middle of the fuse/wing lock is it. If you back it up it hovers great but much harder to fly. You need to really work the rudder too in knife edge with the balance back. This thing rudder loops like crazy, almost as tight as it elevator loops.

Now I'm not gonna pull punches here, this is a full 3D machine and you'll need to work to fly it, not hard, but still work. Aileron rolls have not coupling as well as knife edge, straight and true. Rolling circles are easy as long as you stab the controls at the right time. Hover is great and will torque roll in both directions.

Now if someone builds this out of 3mm depron and the right motor it going to be a blast.

ewo, dooowww

I guess that vid shows it all. Man the 31" span really works great. To let everyone know I took ewo's resize of the wing and modded the plan than scaled the plane back to 28" span. So if you want I can post that size too.

Is it down and in what shape.

Well, I printed off the plans so maybe I can sneak off to the shop after the wedding Tuesday and do some building.
