SSDC: Mikoyan-Gurevitch MiG-15 AlleyCat/ 2007 PSS Fest Sabre Rattler

__________________________________________________ ______

Could there be a flock of MiG's to answer a posse of F-86 Sabres that now threaten to scorch the earth and sky over Cajon at the ISR's 10th Annual PSS Festival in May 2007?

For the 2006 Summer Sloper Design Contest (SSDC)
I propose a MiG-15 PSS glider constructed primarily of pink foam, coroplast, and balsa.

I'm thinking 1/12th scale, but I could make it larger (say to 1/9th or 1/10th scale) if that's what our F-86 Sabre-builder foes decide to go with for Cajon 2007.

Next steps are to select an airfoil, decide yes/no on anhedral, identify c/g location, and oh yes the ejection seat mechanism. <---might need that last item...

So...I have some detailed drawings for the definitive MiG-15 variant, the MiG-15bis, and I shall enlarge these to scale and start cutting foam on 21 June 2006, when the design contest build window begins.

Looks like our Sabre is gonna be about 1/10th scale. It will be based around the old House of Balsa kit. So you might wanna make that poor Mig of yours a little more MANLY sized

Typical Imperialist ........... telling everybody else how to run their shop.

Duly noted, flyboy.

1/10th scale, avatar updated, and whoooooosh this is gonna be fun !!!!!

So for the MiG we're talkin' a wing span of roughly 40" and an overall fuselage length of 43" or so.............

Better not be trying to pull a fast one on us here, Rood... no swapping in of the Mig-17 that you started for last year's PSS Fest and trying to pass it off on us as a -15, OK?

The span should be about 50" or possible a bit longer if we stretch the wings a bit. The wings are pretty fat chord wise so there is a fair amount of wing area. Even at 80 ounces the loading should only be about 22 oz/sqft. So at that weight and loading it should scoot along pretty good. The fuse we are starting with is around 1/9th or 1/10th scale.

Are ya in Dutchy???? You voted for a F-86!

I have an F-8 Crusader that was not finished for this years fest... But it has an excellent chance of giving a Godless Communist Heathen a nylon letdown at next years Fest....

Hehehe Surfimp.......... have I no annonymity?

Actually, Nauga's enthusiastic SSDC A-6 Big n' Ugly proposal almost single-handedly got me out of my latest doldrums. What with his SLUF and now this Intruder, he needs a MiG-17 on his tail, and bad.

I'm now hoping to finish The Forgotten Fresco ASAP, as some Nauga-frying would be VERY fun.

BeeDee, that Crusader sounds muy interesante. Viva la Gunfighter!

And the MiG pilots all burp and howl:

Saluta Anna Kournikova! The blue-suiters will be all punch'd out of their Sabres, so bring on the Navy.

I can supply a nacelle mold plug and cores. There are other potential tankers in the works as well.

Nauga,
and his 'shotgun' build schedule
