CMP Mosquito conversion

I am doing a conversion on a cmp Mosquito. Great kit.

A few mods
Removable wing panels, bigger retractable wheels, ESC's in the wing root and the electric outrunner motors. Here are a few pic of my work so far.

Cool model, but don't trust the factory recommendations about where to balance it. If like other CMP warbirds, it'll be massively tail heavy.

I got mine in hong kong....but a lot of places are selling them under a few different names. Like flair and giant scale planes i think. Its a big box so you dont want to have to ship it too far. But if you want a big twin the this one should be worth it.

Hornant,
That scale pilot that you show sitting in the Mig 15 ,is without a doubt, the most unrealistic pilot I have seen.
Next time spend a couple of bucks more and get a good one.

Good luck, and as everyone has said, recheck the CG.

Thanks mate.....It is an ugly pilot but it was the only one they had
I saw that you did one of these Mosquitos as well. How was the end result.

As far as the CG goes... what has been working. Also could it be that people could be setting the CG from where the wing panels join the center section(ie;out board of the engine. Not where the wing(in board near the radiators) joins the fuse?

I havn't paid too much attention to that part of the build yet.....just working on keeping all the weight forward at this stage. But I will aim on a 28% of wing cord balance piont.

I should end up with over a 1100 watts of power. Any other E mossies with some finished weight and power specs. I have estimated 12 or 13 lbs

Mine came in at 11# 4oz.(180.6oz)
Twin Axi 2826/10
MAS 11x8x3
4S4P 8000
85Amps.
1240 Watts
68 MPH Pitch speed.

Going to pull it back out this week do some calcs on the CG.
Your CG is going to determine where you put you batts.

Check out "Workshops" thread on "73" Mosquito".
It will give you our process for the conversion.
Lots of good info.

with all my conversions I load forward then do the batts last.....when I know where to put them for the CG. My last 2 of my last 3 builds have been ballast free....some how I think this one will need a bit of lead.

I will check out that thread
thanks

ps.. were you happy with the speed

Neal,
Sorry , but I don't know how the give you a direct link but if you use the "search function" with:

"73" GSP Mosquito DH-98 Conversion" by "Workshop"

should get you there.

If you have a problem let me know and I'll try to figure out how to post a link.

Neal,
When Jeff had his experience I put mine on the back burner till this year.
I have a Sr Telemaster and a 73' Stearman to shake out first.
