kA3 1/2 SCALE

Hi all, well I've not done this before so here goes. I started this project 2 1/2 years ago and it has been on and off eversince, I enjoy building and the challanges it brings. This model is based on a plan drawn by Cliff Charlsworth but beefed up and modified as required. As luck would have it where I work here at RAF Cranwell the Gliding club has a K3 in the hanger so I could visit as and when I wanted .

The tail section has wrapped round leading edges on the ruddervators with the tailplane being sheeted with 3/32 ply, the hinges are silver steel pins and drilled and splitpinned.

Wow Zob, as I already said, very very impressive !

Do you have more pictures of the real one ?

I cannot find enough documentation for this glider, other than what I've found in the scale soaring U.K website...

Very impressive! I can just imagine what everyone had to say when it was assembled on the deck for the first time!! 40lbs might not be enough, you may need to add some ballast to get it to penetrate.......you'll know after that first flight ....25% is very conservitive on the CG....a good place to start.....I would guess that after you have flown it for awhile that will move back.....I started with 33% on my SZD-16 https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...4&page=8&pp=15
and will be taking some out the next time I fly. Keep us posted as to the first flight......

I was just asking out of curiosity....
I worked in general aviation maintenance for a long time, worked on almost everything from single engine Cessnas to Citations, Lear Jets, King Airs, etc.

Never got my hands on a Hawker, though.....

By the looks of the exhaust of the engine, your Dominie is the older version, with the GE CJ-610 turbojet ( no fan) engine.
We used to call them fuel-to-noise converters....
