Top Flite Elder

I am almost done building a Top Flite Elder. I put a Saito 56 in it. I now have to decide on a RX. I'm between a Hitec electron 6 or a Futaba 7 channel. Both of them are dual conversion but i'm not sure which one I should get. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd use the Electron - it's lighter and less expensive. Actually I'd use a Hitec Supreme 8.

The Edler was my first kit and was very straightforward. I will post pictures when I get home. Where do you fly? I live on Long Island.

That not really too far. Thats like 28 off the Southern State.
On a godo day that about 45 min drive. Where is the field out there?

Will have to see if we cant get a good old WW1 Dog Fight going.

Cedar Creek Park. You would take the Southern State to the Wantagh to Merrick Rd. Nice flying field. I didn't get a chance to post pictures last night because I was trying to finish it to maiden today. I have some pictures with me at work so i'll post them now and i'll do the rest later.

I ended up doing the maiden this morning. It flies really nice.

May I suggest you install an additional landind gear block around the bulkhead/frame at the leading edge of the wing?

I had the original 20 sized plane back in the 90's and with the gear mounted as designed it was almost impossible to land smoothly. It was too far forward and it would bounce at the slightes bump. I turned the gear around and added another mount block at the wing bulkhead. This put the gear closer to the CG and made landings much smoother.

I've looked at the pix on TF's page, and they appear to have moved the gear back some on the 40 size but adding one wood block while building is easier than afterward.

Happy flights

Thanks for the tip. So far I haven't any trouble landing. I'll keep that in mind though. I finally got around to posting the rest of the pictures. I am still waiting on the scale wheels (wire spoke), the machine gun and piliot. My LHS has them on order. I'm currently in the process of putting together the flying wires for the top and bottom of the wing. I'm also debating putting chrome monocote on the nose like the picture on the box has?

I used 'aluminum' mc, looks more like beat up metal.

I was think of that but how did you finish the edges? The 'metal' only comes down about half way on the cowl.
