That's weird as we were told not long ago that we no longer needed to start new threads! Also why would he tell someone in Australia to start a new one? Admins or Moderators would start it on their own! Something is fishy here! Peter please explain!

Newbie question

Hi there,

I have a question regarding the main wing struts and the way it attaches to the top wing. Is it supposed to just rest in the slots of the top wing underside? or are you supposed to apply glue?

any help and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated

GLUE! DAMMIT! Hahahahahaha.

That is the correct answer.. but if you are using the GWS white glue, remember it should be used as a contact cement. Meaning, put it on the struts and let it set up good, and also on the little places on the wings. After it sorta dries out, when you put the two together there will be an instant bond. You can also use small dollups of epoxy, or even regular Elmer's white glue...if you have the patience. There are also "foam safe" super glues that are great.

But, Wes gets the credit for this. You do have to glue them.

Well at least I was direct and to the point!
I like a little epoxy for that in place of the GWS glue.

I am pleased to announce that my Moth is no longer a 25 ft. Moth!!!!!!

It looks more like 24 ft. to me now. My motor gets really hot, even with the heat sink on it and I'm using 650mah NIMH 7 cell batteries. In attempts to get more power by gearing, I went to the S1 gearing setup with a 9070 prop. I think it is over propped. I looked on the chart and S1 gearing should be running an 8060 prop. So, I have yet another S1 gearbox and motor, so maybe I'll swap out the motor and gearing and see if the 8x6 prop does it.

I noticed that there is an "F" gearing for this little GWS motor too. The recommended prop size is........14x7... Is that made for like, when you're almost in outer space? I can just see a landing with a 14x7 prop!
If you wanted ROG.... you'd have to have a landing gear built like a giraffe!

Maybe it is wing incidence. The trailing edge of the bottom wing has never fit correctly in the saddle. It is up higher than it would be if it was seated all the way. Could it be that simple? Of course not, but I'll try it anyway.
