Lockheed Martin X-35B completes "Mission X"


For those of you with an interest in the ongoing JSF flight testing in full scale, The X-35B successfully completed a major company objective on July 19th.

"Mission X" was the Full Monty: A short vectored takeoff, transition to normal flight, a supersonic dash, a transition to vertical flight and a vertical landing.

All required flight test objectives have been met and the testing is scheduled to end later this week.

I hear the Boing can go supersonic.. and hover.. but not on the same flight. The translating cowl needed for hover can't fly supersonic.
What's a company to do?

Yes, I read it. It is an awesome achievement for sure.

As for the home team I'd like to see them get there too.
