Fokker DR1 from Dymond build thread

Hi and welcome to the Fokker DR1 from Dymond build thread.

My goal is that by the end of this thread you will be able to buy, build and fly the Fokker DR1 from Dymond by just looking at the many, many, many pictures I intend to post.

I will also be writing an instruction manual that if all goes well you will be able to download.

To start the DR1 from Dymond ( https://www.rcgroups.com/pages/splist/link.php?s=3 ) now comes will no instruction or plans of any kind I hope to fix that.

In this area in the near future will contain the specs of this plane.
WS upper 54" 9.4 oz.
WS middle 48 3/8" 6.9 oz.
WS lower 43 3/4" 6.2oz.`
All the wings have a 8" wing cord.

tail 2.5oz.
rudder 1.3oz.
canopy 2.2oz.
The raw fuse with no tail or canopy 34 1/2" with landing gear 26ozs.
>
The box with all the stuff in it 7lbs. 6ozs.
>
COST $195.00
If you have ANY questions please respond to this thread and not by PM.
If you would like another picture or a better description please let me know.

Here is a small model of the DR1 I saw at a local hobby shop and had to buy.

This is a DR1.

I have decided to begin with the fuselage.
I have bought 4 new Hitec Hs-425bb servos and will be using them for this project.

I find it easer to install servos when I drill a small pilot hole with my dremel.

Total time to do this about 15 minutes.

Landing gear

I did a test fit to the gear to find it to be a little to tight.
Ihad to trim away a little of the covering and then trimmed a bit more to make a perfect fit.

The next issue I have come across is that the wheel axle seems to be to Long, but I will leave it in case I have over looked something or if it is supposed to be that way?

Again if you have a question or don't think I explained something clearly enough let me know.

Oran,
I have searched the Dymond site to no avail. Cannot find this Fokker model. What is the wingspan and how much did it cost?
Thanks,
mike

Hi Mike,

The Fokker DR1 and the new SE5 are not on Helmut's site along with many other items and planes he carries.

Helmut is a very busy guy and does not update his website as often as he would like.

Mike any comments on the build thread so far?

The build-- So far so good. Nice looking model. Must be a bit of a pain not to have any directions at all. Is there any indication of where to locate the CG?

What are the dimensions? How much was is? Can you estimate the empty and AUW?

Thanks,
Mike

The website is the one thing I hate about Dymond. It's too bad because they are a great store (I remember them from Oshkosh,WI) and Helmut's a great guy, but their website is disorganized and updated once every 2 years at best.

So, Oranator, what are the specs? Wingspan? Approximate wingarea? Empty weight?

Looks good so far. Keep up the good work!

BTW, do you know if they have a Fokker D.VII coming out soon? Personally I'd prefer that over the Dr.I although that's a beauty too. Incidentally, any idea of the expected price?

Nice plane. Nice size. Too much $$. I'm cheap.
