1st Irregular's Meet of 2007!!

Update - 4 Jan 07

What a fantastic way to start the New Year! There was a most impressive turnout today, and even Cap'n Horrible didn't "miss the good day".

The dock was literally crowded. Boats, tables, chairs, and skippers. ECO boats all the way up to huge steam launches. And an even bigger submarine! From Cap'n Matt's Zig Zag 2 to Cap'n Horrible's Type XXI. And sailboats, BIG sailboats! It was sweet!!

The water was very smooth, and there was a light breeze. Perfect for both power and sail boats. Until the later part of the day, when the clouds moved in and so did the high winds. Then the sail boats ran for shelter and so did the rest of us, lol....

u163665 brought his Prime Time, his Zig Zag 2, and a new aquisition. A very interesting addition to his fine collection. It is an antique Dumas made cabin cruiser style boat that was used in carnival parks as a rental where the public could pay a fee, and then drive a model boat. All original, including rusty old motors that I think are Pittman's. It even has the rental number on it still.

Cap'n Richard brought out his giant Diana launch, the steam powered boat that he converted to electric. He was running it this time, but still having problems with the Vantec speed control. We are trying to talk him into getting a modern electronic esc instead.

Cap'n Bob had a fantastic Hellen fishing boat, a kit by Graupner I believe.

Cap'n Vic had his Villain EX deep vee speed boat and an absolutely huge Kyosho sail boat.

Cap'n Brad had his sail boat, equipped with beautiful new sails. And his Skdaddle.

Cap'n Horrible had his Type XXI and his Atlantic tug which he has updated with several new deck additions, masts, etc and it is now a part of the Kriegsmarine fleet.

Cap'n Hank was sailing a one of his old friends boat.

And I had the Wave Shark with the new rudder. I ran it on 12 cells, 14 cells, and 16 cells. It performed great! I am really happy with it right now.

Kmot: Thanks for the pic of the boat launching stand.
Look out for Cap'n Horrible's attack tug with the machine gun on the roof. Looks good.

Man that Diana is gorgeous! I am curious. Since it is electric powered, are those two tubes coming out of the side cooling water exits?

Looks like you have a good group going there. Some very nice boats and subs.

Thanks for all of the great pics and the cool video.

The Diana has an overheating problem. The Vantec controller. So he put in a micro water pump to try to help it. But he did not want to drill holes in the hull, so he used silicone hoses as both a water pickup and water exit.

It didn't work. He put the silicone tubes through the heatsink on the Vantec.

I thought it was something like that. I would not want to drill holes in that beautiful boat either.

Amen to the e-applause. When I get off my crutches, I hope to be able to deliver it in person. Sounds [and looks] like you got a great start to the new year!
