I believe 1.07 firmware autocharges at 1.2C

Thats what started all the drama and caused FMA to pull there forum
in the vendor section.

I too have two CellPro 4S's. 1.07 and 1.08. I charge 1320 and 2100 mah TP batteries and the chargers stay set on 3 amps. The chargers programming seems to do an excellent job of sensing how many amps the battery can accept. If you set it for 3 amps, for example, 3 amps is the upper limit but the charger will decide if it should charge at a lower rate. Set the amps manually, watch the display. You'll see what it's doing. Personally, I think all the whining about 1.0C or 1.2C was much to do about nothing. Happy flying, Tom

one game away...

When I set my Cellpro4 (v1.8) to 1C charge a TP2100PL, it ends up charging them at 2.6-2.8 amps. I've noticed no pack warming or noticeable degredation so I let it do it that way now. When it first happened, I would manually set the charge rate back to 2 amps.

Not crying or anything, just stating my observations. I really like this charger. Wish I could afford a couple more.

Matt, Just let it charge. It's not a problem. If you want it to charge faster set it at 3 amps. That's still only 1.5C (max) on a 2100 mah battery. Tom

Perhaps Fred could tell us the differences between 1.07, 1.08 and 1.09.
I've had excellent results with my 1.08 chargers but now I want to know what 1.09 adds/removes etc.

yes, I agreed that The Cellpro is so great.
Now all we need is a great techical support.
Could not ask more than that :-)

the reason i bought the cellpro is....
I already had the TP 425. And all
of my lipos packs aged up, which means
there is a hidden danger lies ahead.
Why spend $40-$50 for a Balancer while
I can get an extra charge with built in
balancer for $69. So I ordered the Cellpro.

Very please with the decision. Don't
get me wrong, the TP 425 charger
is another good charger too. Now
I have two great chargers?
Two is better than one, right?

Thx for the info guys , i didn't even hear about the drama over 1.0C and 1.2C is a shame that it caused FMA to close their forum. Is the thread or threads still around for veiwing ? i'd like to have a look to see what all the fuss was about.

So u guys recon i'm ok to charge with the 1.4C on the v1.08 charger ?
Reason i'm asking is i've had my flightpower lipos die after only about 60 flights, i really dont think its anything to do with the cellpro but i'm not 100% sure.

I now have some new TP-eXtremes and want to make sure i dont mess them up.

The flightpower lipos were always hot after a flight (i fly a tres 450), they were mostly around 140f where as my new TP packs so far seem to be around 110f, off topic i know but do u guy recon the heat is what killed my packs ? i'm still quite new to this game so i dont really know what did it.

I too would like a breakdown of the differences with the 1.07, 08 & 09 firmwares,

the hotter the lipo while discharging at high rate, the shorter
its life span.

I have quite a few lipo packs that slightly ballooned
after the flight, during summer, they still work well
but have quite a bit weaker output. They still look like new
after 50 + flight though

Hi Matt,
That higher rate is not for the whole charge cycle, so it really is a 1C charge average, they refer to it as a dynamic charge rate, the charger seems to adjust the current based on the response of the pack to accept the charge during the charge cycle. Hey, all I know is it works great, right now I have been flying a 2S 1250 Cellpro that spent 27 days up in a white pine, no real signs of deterioration, yet

ShuNut, If you're running the normal low LVC setting on your heli's esc, you have a far greater chance of damaging your lipo's from discharging them too low than from charging them at 1.4C. Tom

Ok thx for the info again guys.

I do have a lipo alarm that goes off at 9.62V after about 8 mins, but i've dicided to set my timer for 7 mins, lipos are new but did 7 mins the other day and fuel remaing was around 20% so if i keep it at that i should be ok wont I ?

If i fly till alarm goes off 8mins then fuel remaining is about 6-9%.

Thx again, this has helped me learn.

This would be good to know. They shipped me one a week ago and it was 1.08. Now yours is 1.09. I wonder if the FW is end user upgradeable.

Got a brand new replacement Cellpro today, not too bad really, sent it monday and got new one today, FW is 1.08.

Yeah Fred, we'd love a brakdown of the differences with the FW's.
Probedude, i've also been wondering if we can up or downgrade the FW.

I figure if you have a CellPro you have the rest beat. Really it could go in a pretty box. But then you would need a fan ?
