Now is also a good time to get the servo mounting holes pre-drilled and servos test mounted.

Time to glue it all up and find out what all those tabs are for.
The glue I use is Selleys Durabond. It is a polyurethane glue. It makes a strong joint and it expands into the joint. On the down side it is very messy, diificult to get off skin and it takes 4 hours to cure.

The fuselage gets glued up all in one go with the exception being the front section top deck.



DONT FORGET TO DO A DRY FIT FIRST (You dont want any surpirses once there is glue everywhere)

First step is to apply glue and assemble the bulkheads and crutch.

Apply glue and attach the entire assembly to the fuselage bottom.

Pin here and there where needed.

Apply glue and stick on the rear top deck.

Fit the front top deck. DO NOT GLUE IT ON

At this stage it is just used to help pull the sides in and to assist holding it all down while the glue dries.

There is still mor e work to be done in the forward compartment after the rest of the fus is all done.

All done for now. Add some heavy objects to hold it all down and flat to the building board. Dont forget some non-stick before putting weights onto rear top deck.

Here are the specs from my first prototype model


Construction Material: 6mm Depron with a little balsa and ply here and there
Wingspan: 1000 mm (39.37 ")
AUW: 560 gms (20 oz) With Polyquest 2100 3S
Motor: Hyperion 3007/26 (I believe this is equivalent to Hacker A30-28S)
ESC: Hyperion Titan 30A
Batteries: Tried so far - Polyquest 2100 XP 3S, Polyquest 2100 Wide Flat 3S
Props: tried so far APC slow Fly 11.4.7, APC-E 10x5 (better)
Landing Gear: Hyperion 400 gear
Servos: Waypoint 64
Rx: JR610
Tx: JR388

Performance: 3 flights so far all around 8-10 minutes. E-Meter showed 28A Peak at around 8,000 rpm with 10x5.

It flies just like a little version of my 40 powered Stik. i.e. a great flying sport model.

mmm thats about 918 grams 32oz thrust it should do very well indeed.
one of the 60 gram motors i build might be a good match also,
Tested with GWS Hd 9x5 @ 11.1 volts @9300 rpm
870 grams = 31 oz static thrust draws 16 amps I havent tried a higher pitch prop yet thanks for the specs and build .cheers lez.

I'm going to fly mine with a Hacker A20-22L that I have laying around. I did scale it down just a bit and my wingspan should come in at abolut 37 inches. It should fly pretty well. I'm not going for all out balistic flying, but more of a lazy day acrobat. Building out of FFF. I have most of the parts cut out and ready for glueing tonight.

Thanks for running the numbers Lez. I'd guessed it was around 1.5:1 Thrust to weight by the way it flies.

Will do. I'll get some pics up tomorrow if you don't mind me posting them.

I didn't get the glue on tonight like I had planed. I did get the rest of the parts cut out. I'm impressed with the strength that this fuse will have after gluing. Just dry fitting together, and it is very strong with all the tabs and the center support and bulks.

I'm also impressed with how light I think it's going to be. Again, no glue, the foam fuse bits and the vert. stab and rudder come in at 30 grams (I did scale it to 95%). I will glue it up tomorrow, and sand it down this weekend. I think I'm going to cover it with monocoat or some type of heat shrink. What's the lighter shrink? Monocoat or solight (spelling).

Thanks again for the plans. They are well put together, and I have not found ANY problems with the parts lining up. I'm cutting by hand, and even with the inconsistent cuts that you get by hand, the parts have all tabbed together perfectly.
