My New 8 cell 500 mah Zagi nicad pack took a charge or 1258 Mah!!!!

Last night i charged my Zagi pack at a 1c rate, accually on the lowest setting my Supernova would charge at. It read 1258 final charge. How can this happen? Normally my packs go like 50-80 mah over the rated limit.

The charger missed the peak, and overcharged the pack.

Ive had lots of new packs do this on their first charge, its pretty normal. Also you should be able,if needed, to set your supernova to 100ma minimum charge rate.

At the low rate you were charging, the pack never went into overcharge. Since the pack could not peak, SN just keeps charging it at 100 ma and keps recording the info. Remember, the C for a pack is nominal and your pack might take 100 ma without peaking. If, for example, you use EINSTEIN or other C/10 charger, you can leave the pack on charge indefinitely without ever having it go into the overcharge condition where temp rises, vlltage peaks, and pressure builds. Your pack is OK. If in doubt, simply do a discharge and see what it's capacity is. That is why Supernova is so great; you can check about anything having to do with a pack.
