First wing cut with Feather/Cut.

Yesterday my feather/cut and epp came, and today I cut my first wing! Wow is it easy!, the instructions can look scary at first but after you get to see how the thing works, then its a walk in the park.

Heres the wing i cut, its a NACA 0012 airfoil, its for a straight, no sweep, no taper, flying wing.

the span is 24"

NICE! wait till it flys... its a totally different feeling knowing you built it from scratch.

gonne need a lot of lead to balance that thing... might suggest a small pod/fuse of some sort to get that noseweight out in front

Well tomarow is the big test flight.

I freeflight tested it in the front yeard just to see if I had balanced it well, and it looks like it, and i didnt even have to add the additional 4-cell battery pack I thought I would have to, which would basically double the weight. All the electronics (Servos, Reciver, Battery) are 1/4" back from the leading edge.

I used 2 Hs-18MG's, A 4-cell flat AA pack, A Hitec feather reciver and some No-name elevon mixer.

Think it will fly?

Nah he wouldn't finish the plane.... I was testing a wing just like that for slofly, had some seriously interesting habits. It could discus launch very well, but had very strange pitch problems. Sorta like a flying slug.

I've found that the no sweep/no taper wings need the CG further forward than you would think...maybe 8% - 12%.
