I'll be watching the weather up at jones too,
If the wind is a little too north we can go south a bit to a spot that is fantastic,,best pilots lounge and LZ of all the grooves I've flown up on Jones.

Matt,I'll drive if ya want to go today.I think I must go.
wind wnw 28-32 mph right now.

It's a weird forecast. There's not much in the way of organized surface winds
to the west of the divide. They're talking about a "thermal trough"
(pocket of cold air) coming through the mountains this afternoon which could
cause a sudden drop in temperature in the mid levels, producing a rise in relative
humidity and precip. It's clear and windy up there now and about 35 degrees.

Big swarm of planes, paragliders, hang gliders.. One nice spectacular
crash between bullet-proof 1-26 and not-bullet-proof EZ Glider.
Of course that was about 1 1/2 seconds after I said to someone
standing behind me "Notice that we don't fly any sort of silly pattern
here.." head-on *Crash*.. EZ glider takes about 5 seconds and 5 complete
spins to fall out of the sky into the side of one of the parked cars.

One new sloper flew and a couple soon to be.

Yup, I was that new sloper!!! and I happen to be the guy sitting in the front of the picture you took... I was hoping I was out of it... Oh well. I am definitely looking forward to some more sloping!! It was nice meeting you all yesterday!

Thanks
It's been MANY years since I've flown NCAR, but I've been told they still fly where I used to. NCAR is the National Center for Atomospheric Research. It's on the south side of Boulder, and obviously up against the foot hills. 3958'42.82"N -10516'22.04"W

You can get better directions from various Internet resources (Google Earth, etc.) than I could give you. I used to park on the south east side of NCAR's parking lot, then walk south east out of the parking lot through the few trees, then fly off the SE facing slope. I used to fly a Gentle Lady there, and there are nice landing areas. That's also where I learned some lessons about how the wind moves after it comes up and over the slope.

Maybe somebody else can post on Green Mountain, as I'm unfamiliar with that location.

EDIT: Hi Scott. That picture made you look like you were up to some sort of indiscretion behind my car, but I realize now you were trying to shrink back out of the field of view.

Jones was way better than the forecast in terms of humidity, or
near total lack thereof.
I've got some good video of Nick, Matt and Karl ripping it up, and
some 130+mph passes of Karl's Rebel, which I'll post up in a bit.
I also got a decently long flight with the video plane including some
really high altitude stuff. View was great through the goggles so
hopefully what I recorded will be even better. Will post up in a few days.

Meantime, here's a couple panos I just made from photos today.

Where's the wind?

I knew I should have drivien up the mountain. We were so close. It was windy in Georgetown yesterday afternoon so I figured the conditions would have been great. No moisture either. Bo and I stayed in Georgetown over the weekend.

Fishing in Georgetown lake was phenominal all weekend especailly after dark. There are some very large trout hiding in there. We managed to take home some nice ones.

On three consecutive casts last night Bo was in the groove (10min time frame just before we left for Denver):
First cast: Hooked large trout, fought to shore and lost when 10lb leader broke on hook.
Second cast: Hooked another even larger trout, fought to shore and lost when circle hook straightened completely out.
Third cast: Hooked a medium fish, fought and landed, 16inch, super fat, thick trout

During the day we did some gold panning and found enough to make it fun. I had never tried it before.

I really need to get flying again. Maybe this coming weekend.
