Any one tried the Helicommand yet?
Seems it would be a good way to learn some 3D stuff without any $$ crashes.
Any one tried the 3d version? Here's a video for the ones taht haven't seen it. http://www.robbe.com/at/video/8493.wmv |

I wonder what it was thinking when it decided to rasie the heli. also, what happenes if you put the heli above moving ground? And how does it do in the wind?
anyways, if you had an AP ship, this thing could hover it, and you could be on a different heli doing the camrea Anyone have an link? |

You can find more details at www.robbe.de + search helicommand.
It is kind of strange how it gains altitude and how it drifts in the video. Also the guy doesn't seem very relaxed about letting go of the controls. But if this thing works as advertised it could prove very handy. |

Not sure if I understand the point of flying with this device. I think what makes this hoppy a great one is the challenge you get while developing your skills a step at a time - it makes you think to cordinate your hands and your brain in such as way that if you screw up - you crash like you fly in the real world. Wouldn't this be like you sit next to your friend who drive you to a place and when you get to there you cannot find the way to go back home on your own?

The only way I can see this working, is if you get in trouble and let go of all sticks, maybe it senses theres no input and just gets the heli into a hover from a variety of orientations, well as long as the unit can "see" the ground, not good if your inverted. Other than that I can't see what you'd get out of it. If it doesn't do that then it's a bit like buying a dog and barking yourself.....pretty pointless.

Reading the description it says:

There is also a 3d version that stabilises the heli inverted. The Helicommand includes a HH gyro - so if this thing is any good, it does not seem that expensive. |

Great write-up, pretty much what I thought. Would be cool if it would lock-on to the moving object and stay on it. |
