70 years ago Today - Spitfire Proto K5054 Maiden


For UK viewers - coverage of the celebratory Fly-past is at 1630 on BBC news 24, and probably elsewhere...

Capt J. Mutt Summers made the first flight of the Spitfire on the 5th of March 1936!

Apparently Alex Henshaw will be flying with them

Alex Henshaw was back seat....in a rare two seater.

The Spit is 70 years young wow. Put a Spitfire and an F-22 side by side which one looks like the real airplane??
