Micro brushless ESC discussion

So now that there are some cool micro BL motors out there, lets talk about the ESCs to go woth them. I know there are some folks here that have made their own and others who would LIKE to!

I have been looking at the Lensrc motors lately and having found out that they draw 4-5 amps, I began thinking about where one may find such a beast. Then I thought, "hey, ask the fourm"

So what is the best option? Make my own? Microbatics? (too much $$$ ) Castle Creations thunderbird 9? Something else?

but if the motor draws 5 amps, won't that blow the ESC?

It has a cutoff at 4.5 amps. Great ESC!

What is the full name of this controller? Or where can i get one? The name doesn't ring any bells with me. Thanks!

will the cutoff shut down the motor or just limit the amp draw? sorry for the noob question, I have never "gone brushless" before.

First,
The LensRC motor is not a 1-cell motor as far as I know. So, the DU 1-cell BL controller will not be an option for this motor. Here is the lay of the land for micro BL controllers.

Multi-Cell Controllers:
Heino Yung YGE4-BL, 1-3 cells, ~$80, 2.1g w/wires & plugs, BSDmicroRC.com, Homefly, WES Technik, others

Castle Creations Thunderbird 9 with lighter wires & plugs, 2-3 cells, $35, 4.6g w/wires & plugs, BSDmicroRC.com.

Micro Planes Solutions 1-3 cells, ~$60, ~ 1.2g w/o wires, MPS, coming soon

Micro Invent 1-2 cells, unknown price, 0.7 to 1g w/wires & plugs, coming soon

Single Cell Controllers:
Dynamics Unlimited, $60, 0.5g no wires, available now from DU

Micro Invent, ~$50 to $60, 0.3g bare, ~0.6g w/wires & plugs, coming soon to BSDmicroRC.com

Micro Planes Solutions, ~$60, 0.6g w/o wires, coming soon MPS

There you have it. My Micro Invent 1-cell controller just arrived today.

It throttles down the motor. I had it on a small heli and the throttle down was smooth enough to make a landing instead of just dropping out of the sky.

Has anybody tried the 1 cell Micro Planes Solutions 1-3 cells ESC with the Brush2Less converter

http://helihobby.com/html/electronics_helicopter.html

as a brushless solution? Does it really work with 1 cell on the Walkera 4#3?

I am using the Feigao BL motor with the setup.
