Steam Tug BALTIMORE

The Steam Tug BALTIMORE will be celebrating it's 100 birthday/anniversary in October 2006. They are trying to organize a model tug rodeo (their words) for the weekend of October 21 - 22. Are there any r/c tug builders/operators in the Baltimore area interested in helping organize such an event? Contact the Steam Tug BALTIMORE folks direct.

It sounds like the event will be on the south side of the Inner Harbor; across the harbor form CGC TANEY, USS CONSTELLATION, and the Maritime Museum.

As Bob knows, this has come together quite nicely. Tug Baltimore will be tied up at the Naval Reserve Center adjacent to Fort McHenry. They've borrowed the big port-a-pond from the Cabin Fever Expo folks to run models in; more daring folks can run in the REAL harbor!
Lots of other historic vessels coming in for the party, they'll have a parade around the upper harbor. Someone is coming in with a wagon full of old steam whistles, will hook up to the sugar mill's steam lines- should be fun!

More info at www.steamtug.org . I think I might take a few pictures...

Wish I could...

Very cool. Wish I was still back in the States or else I'd attend but I'd have to bring my Type VII to try & sink a few targets. Besides, Shanghai is a long way from Ft. McHenry!

Just spoke with a friend of mine in the BWA area & he'll be down there for the event. Enjoy the fun!

It is a shame so few modellers showed up. The weather wasn't the greatest to draw crowds. It looks like you enjoyed the trip. Your model certainly looks good.
