Kamov KA-27/32 for the Blade CX

Here it is,
Finally debuted the KA 27/32 tonight at a local indoor flying meet that
Matt Keennon organizes. (thanks Matt!)
I have my big scale helis, but this little Blade CX is a blast!
and it won't kill me like a 14 lb Huey(see my web page)
My scale nature got the best of me and Viola, a Kamov KA-27-32 Body.
With all the metal landing gear stuff it comes in at 9 oz AUW.
The stock Blade CX comes in at 8oz. That's a 1oz difference
The paint was done really really really fast to get ready for the meet.
so please excuse the toylike apperence. But hey, a prototype with CLEAR windows....he he...
Thanks Mike ( Smash McCrash) for taking the pics and flying also!

UPDATE 9-18-2013
Hello out there
Yes I still make them.

$40 for the KA32 in white styrene
$45 for the KA32 in Clear petg
$42.50 for the KA27 in white styrene
$47.50 for the KA27 in Clear petg
plus shipping of course

ahh that looks really amazing! Especially in the air. Any plans to give it some quad wheel landing gear?

Are these going to be for sale or just personel use?

hi Dave
it looks great , you are going to have to offer these for sale , they are too cool to deprive your fellow hobbyists of , it would be great if you talked a bit about what steps you took to bring this idea to life , as i am sure i am not the only one here who is interested , i am amazed you were able to keep this quiet for as long as you did , thanks for posting , and put me on the list , dana

Thanks guys
I'm painting and building the wacky landing gear today.

Building notes will be posted soon.
and the final "plugs" will be ready for a small production run by the end of next week.
The paint scheme I chose for the prototype is this.
The Russian Navy isn't very "flashy"

I'm building some kamov style landing gear right now just because I hate the gear I do have. So if you're taking names for the small production run you plan. Mark me down for one.

That is sweet looking. I thought of the same design but lack the skills to complete such a great looking mod. I have a better chance of making the Borg cube body for the CX.. lol. Keep up the good work!!!

Very nice scaled bodywork Dave. It should look like the real deal once you get it detailed and flying.

I (like dana) am also interested how you go about making it

I have a background in thermoforming but it doesn’t look like that is what you are doing.

It is vac u formed, I just like to use a solid cast urethane/epoxy buck.
My masters could get damaged by pulling over them.
here is a pic of the thermal forming bucks, and the canopy pulls

Bwahahahahahhahahha........ *ahem*
On a serious note, I get most of my documentation for paint from this site.
It's free and it has LOADS of stuff. WARNING it is a time vampire!!!!!

Daytime pics

I wanted to get some more paint and detail on it today,
but my 12 year aniversary comes first....
she puts up with my hyperactivity
but here are some daytime pics.
I have the rear boom cover to finish and the inner exhaust pipes are not installed. the bodymounts could be shortened too.
