Jeti Phasor brushless any good for EDF???


After reading the specs at HL and all the talk of direct drive..it cant be any good for EDF as the kv will be too low?????
Sounded like high torque but low rpm.

Will be interesting to see some results with EDF.

I have asked Jeti directly (as has Tom Hunt) for RPM limits. I have unconfirmed (second hand) data that they are around 20K RPM on the motors.

That argues for big, (relatively) slow turning fans, just as they do for big, (relatively) slow turning props.

When I have the data in hand, I'll try to get it back to this thread.

They will not be suitable for EDF. Not fast EDF anyway. The RPM limits how small the fan can be for a given wattage. They would work in a large diameter fans but you won't have a fast model. Maybe OK for large transport type models.

OK, the official word from Mr. Tinka (the "ti" in Jeti) is this:

15/3 and 15/4 are limited to 20K RPM

30/3 and 45/3 are limited to 15K RPM

That said, Tom Hunt told me he's already run the 30/3 to nearly 20K and it didn't fail, but that is by no means a long term test.

I'm not an EDF guy yet, but I think Greg probably has it just right.

OTOH, for the sport flying propeller plane crowd like me, they look really good.
