3 engine seaplanes?
Hi,
I've got 3 geared sp400s lying around, would be good for a 1.8-2m Depron seaplane. I built a 1.55m Cl415, want something bigger. ok, I know the Do-24, hmm, except for the rear half of the fuse not too bad for simple sheet-construction. But I do not know any other 3-engine seabird... If you now some, please give me a hint, I did not fall in love with the Do24, so alternatives are welcome. Erich |

Erich - The Blohm und Voss Bv.138 circa 1941 had what looks to be 3 inline engines.

Triples
Did some book reading - The Blackburn Iris was produced in 3 and 4 engine forms there was also a single pylon mounted, as per PBY,metal winged monoplane version produced same hull line but way ahead of the old bi plane layout. Sorry no scanner at the moment but its in David Wraggs book -Boats of the Air.
The first version of the PBY that evolved into the Catalina had 3 motors two in the normal LE position and a third mounted on a pylon above the wing it was dropped pretty soon. The B Voss 138 is the most modern looking design go to the Wasserflug site you will see plenty of pics. The Italians did a float plane version of their excellent SM79 Sparvero -sparrow torpedo bomber. |

Hey, careful with posting wierd French aircraft, you'll have Tim Hooper over here in a flash, and we ALL know he will start one right away!! ;-) Let´s keep pushing "dans le coté obscur de l´ aeronautique " ! Attention, atention !: a fourth engine as a pusher in the fuselage not evident in the pic Salut, Jean |
