Checking CG is for NERDS!

Hey, guys... how will the Arc 28-47-2 perform on 3s with a 5x5 prop?

I'm itching to get started on a Funjet...looking for a setup that will run fast on 3s but have room for a major boost by moving up to 4s.

Thanks!!

That motor...with a 6x5 prop on a 3S will push the Funjet up to about 110 MPH; 127 MPH on 4S, and the 140+ range on 5S. You'll be pulling up to about 60 amps as the size of the pack grows. Just be careful...over 130 MPH, smaller servos (like the HS-55) can't move the control surfaces. Built it with Servos that can do 30+ oz-inch of torque if you're going to push it...and also re-enforce the elevons...the foam bends a that speed too.

Be safe...and have fun

Great info!! Thanks, efether.
Good to know that the HS-55s will work above 100...but I think its good advice to just start with stronger ones.

I ordered up my Arc 28-47-2 motor!! I hope to get some flights on this thing before the snow flies.

I am hoping that I don't slit my wrist on the fist launch.
It looks dangeous to launch one of these pusher prop planes.

Yes you are right, on closer inspection my port side servo failed in flight. It was working as I always do a preflight check.

I just check them as I was going to put the servos into another plane and the starboard side servo is dead. The servo is a HS65.

Cheers,

Gord.

Hi Folks,

I've had a good search through this thread, and so far drawn a blank. I was wondeirng if anyone knew of a scaled up Funjet at all? I'm looking at something a little different as a quick build winter project, and I was thinking that my Funjet flies great, it would be really cool as a x2 scale version (Obviously with a more powerful motor!)

Cheers
Andy

you could do a twinjet with a single motor. Or better yet a twin jet with TWO motors

I'll give you the same advice I've given others, as it works great for me. Learn to launch left-handed so that you can keep your right hand on the elevator during launch. This wont stop your wrist from gushing but it sure helps to keep the plane from skiffing the ground...

Hiya. I'm planning a Funjet with an Arc 28-47-2 and a Plush 60A ESC on 4S. Just wondering what's the best C and mAh to balance batt life/weight/power?

I have some 18C 4S 2200mAh batts already, will 18C cope?

It depends on what prop you use...I'd suggest using at least 20C 2200 packs. Mine runs around 45A WOT with a 6x4 sport prop.
