style changes to ASRO's DS Listing site

What do you think? http://www.sloperacing.com/results/ds-speeds.htm

Dial up users will see a mild slow down, everybody else should be okay. Old CRT screen users might struggle with the dark colors. Let me know.

very cool. The contrast on of the lwoer screen and the text is a little low, but it is readable and the whole thing is much more aestetically pleasing.

Great idea and looks cool, but my sorry eyes have trouble with the white text. I'm on a 17" LCD flat panel monitor.

Graphic design is certainly esthetic, but where the text blends in with the same color in the background, it becomes blurred.

I have had a hard time finding a nuetral color that stands out, but not too much. Suggestions?

You could darken it a bit more (than it already is) with photoshop, and then it will be perfect.

Whenever I want to use a picture backgorund, I add a bunch of white with black text, but that would ruin this picture.

Nathan,

I must be turning into an old man cause I really need to look close to read it well. You could use shadowed text for better contrast... Larger font?

I'm just worried that when I make it up to a better ranking noone will be able to admire my speed

Looks vary nice!

Maybe you're in the middle of changing things, but right now when I look:

Joe Manor 224 and above is over the photo and the rest of the page -- chart and otherwise -- is yellow text over white and illegible. I'm on a Mac using Safari.

In Internet Explorer, it's over a black page. But you aren't communicating with all browsers, apparently.

See the sample.

What platform is that from?

I target Firefox (mozilla), and IE 6 for Windows. I typically have no problems with Mac OSX/Safari either. However, the ASRO site is made using FrontPage (a bastard of a program which I destest immensly), and the code it overwrites is pure crap and a perversion of what I attempt. I am not at all surprised if it will not work properly in Safari or Opera.

I tend to agree with you. Though things look groovy on my $$ monitor, I am not happy with the compromises I'm having to make to make this image work in this application.

Ah, didn't see this until just now (I have funny habit of reading threads backwards.

Here is the body tag decloration that FrontPage made:
<body text="#CCCCCC" style="background:#000000 url('') no-repeat fixed center top; padding:0; color:#CCCCCC" link="#FFFFCC" vlink="#999999" alink="#BB6248" background="images/kyle012.jpg">

I have now changed it to:
<body text="#CCCCCC" style="background:#000000; padding:0; color:#CCCCCC" link="#FFFFCC" vlink="#999999" alink="#BB6248">

That should work better. Test it out and let me know
