Blue Skies over New Mexico - May 20-21
Texas - At the beautiful Southfork Ranch (filming location for the series Dallas) and home of the well-known soaring contest TNT (Texas National Tournament), join SLNT for a two day hand launch event.
New Mexico - On the huge grass circles of Gardner Sod farm in Moriarty, NM, join the ASA for two days of hand launch play.Contests:
In each contest, we'll fly 10 rounds for the entire group, then we'll all watch the top six pilots fly three fly-off rounds of extra challenging tasks. There will be comraderie and fun.
We'll use Man-on-Man scoring. Results for each weekend will combine to make a series.
At the Texas event, SLNT will manage a winnings pot for the top flyers.
At the New Mexico event, ASA will host a raffle, with the top prizes high performance Hand Launch gliders.
Come join us. Call it a Regional Series, or a National Open, or even a great warm up for the famous IHLGF in June. Whatever you call it, it is hand launch fun with friends in the springtime!

Early Registrations / Claim Your Frequency
The early registrations are coming in, we already have five pilots for NM in just two days. Thanks, guys!
Whenever possible we'll give each pilot their own discrete frequency. Max. assignments will be two pilots per channel, but with a little effort we can minimize or eliminate frequency sharing.
Please register early with alternative frequencies. First come-first served, but those who can be flexible and use their alternate frequencies are very much appreciated.
Mail in your registrations early, especially for Blue Skies TX. For Blue Skies NM you can use online registration.

A.S.A. coming to Texas, who else?
We are all looking forward to playing hand launch here with you guys. We're also gathering the ASA guys to head east for Blues Skies Over Texas.
Let's work the surrounding States and help them join the fun. Do you know any of the Colorado Clan? We gotta get them down for this.
I know some of the Tucson and Phoeniz guys--I'll say 'hey there' to them. Some of you DFW guys must know whoever flies in Kansas through Kentucky.
Chad knows the Utah people, and it sounds like a few California pilots might be joining us.
Hand Launch Fun is Coming!
All HL pilots are welcome to one or both events!
There are many good reasons to come to Blue Skies.
Let's talk prizes.
The Texas folk are keeping it simple. Money
You can dream of winning, with way better odds than the lottery. Even have some control over the results. And if you can take 1st through 4th place, you're going to come home with more than dreams.
Okay, you'll be deferring your travel expenses LOL. But if you win 1st or second, there's going to be some left over too!
Meanwhile, in New Mexico we'll have some very pretty wood for the top finishers. Now, if bragging rights are not enough, we're also having a Raffle. For everybody. Even those who can't come fly!
This is a serious game. There are three high performance DLGs on the block right now, and it won't matter where you place in the contest. The only way you can win is to register for Blue Skies Over New Mexico (one free ticket per pilot), or if you buy your own additional tickets. Yes, you do not have to be registered to participate. So register, or buy tickets, or do both!
PoleCat Aero -- XP4-XP4.5
The Ironworks -- Epona
RC Builder -- LightHawk

Update to Hand Launch Poker Task
Announcing an update to Task 3, Saturday May 21, Blue Skies over New Mexico
After considering our latest practice of the Hand Launch Poker task, and reviewing the FAI Rulebook, we will update the task to more closely follow the FAI rules.
Task I (Poker - variable target time) (page 38)
"Before the first launch, each competitor announces a target time to his timekeeper. He than can perform an unlimited number of launches to reach this time. If the target is reached, the target time is credited and he can announce the next target time, which can be lower, equal or higher. The announcement can be repeated 5 times.
5 flights with a reached target can be credited. The reached target times are added up. Minimum working time - 10 minutes.
Announced time - Flight time - Scored time

50 s - 1st flight 48 s - 0 s
....... 2nd flight 52 s - 50 s
