The camera is a high quality CCD type with a white balance switch. What do you mean about the electronics handling extra weight?

Estimating Altitude

I need some help from some really experienced pilots. How high would you say I was in the image that looks the highest? I found a good way to judge altitude without an altimeter is by standing in one end zone of a football field and hovering in the other. That's a known distance of 300 ft. which is a great ruler or yardstick! So, I get a good reference as to the size (scale) of my helo at that distance. Then, when directly overhead, I can judge my altitude by how big my helo is in the sky.

Are you familiar with this helo? It really doesn't have much room or tolerance for the weight of all that gear you are speaking of. This helo is said to be able to carry up to 6 oz.. But I'm sure I've got more than that hanging on it. I am flying a prototype so I can't post any pictures of the camera or it's mount yet. It is a wireless downlink system using a diversity receiver.

I wouldn't mind showing you or anyone but I can't violate the NDA agreement. The production models will be available soon!

I know that I have more than 6 oz. on this helo. Wait until you see the new mount.

I have built and flown a 4-rotor design, "draganeater" its called. I postedvideo on this AP forums It has 1 lb payload and still good power to weight ratio.

So will the production model be cheaper than $5000?

Looks cool!

As far as I know, the helo isn't changing that much except for how the transmitter is integrated into the airframe if you choose the video system option. The new camera mount is interesting though. I'm sure it's nowhere near the cost of the X-Pro.
