Windrider's Giant Airliner Kit, Awesome!!

Ming Lou of Winrider just sent me an email saying that their giant Airliner is now ready for shipment. I am thinking maybe (4) Johnson 250 Motors for the electric conversion or maybe even (4) CDROM motors off of (1) large brushless ESC??

P.S. - Maybe (4) GWS 300 EDF55's?

Landing gear?

Something that big deserves to have retractable gear with some semblance of scalishness.

Any ideas?

$225 Shipped is a little pricey for a slope glider. I am going to pass on it not just because of the price but also how do you transport a plane that size? Not in my Sentra I would guess. ;-)

60 bucks for shipping is ridiculous! I can buy 2 GWS slope warbirds for that. And 165 bucks for a chunk of foam? I will definetely pass on that one!

i also would go with semi-scale retracts, if i were going in for that. projects like that are just totaly off my map though.

The original poster's pictures are amazing. It sure does look like a beauty. A big beauty, to be sure, but definitely beautiful. I can imagine that flying at a slope - it would be very cool.

I also don't think $60 for a 6.5lb package from Hong Kong is unreasonable - I was looking at prices to ship a laptop (just a laptop) from Dell.Com and they wanted nearly $100 for domestic. I was looking at buying a chassis for a rack mount system a couple of days ago and looking at over $30... domestic. $60 for a large 6lb. box from Hong Kong via airmail doesn't seem at all unreasonable.

That said, to answer your question, Ming, $45-80.

From the US Postal Service website.

Dear PFM

Thank you very much for your information.
I can let you know that US$60 we charge is not enough to cover what we pay for the shipping, it mean I take some part of our profit to ship the plane.
It happen to all Windrider plane we selling on our website not only this Airliner.
One of example is Ele-Bee, we need to pay around US$35 to ship US but we just charge US$15 to ship US by air.

With four "hanging" engines, it would need landing gear, or have em rip off on landings. Ohterwise....interesting.

See how to attach the engine rod to the wing.
I am landing this ship on long grass on the slope, engine rod separate from the wing but no damage.
If you fly EDF, you must add the the landing gear on.

Retracts on this big a plane looks very do-able as well as plug in wings for transport. My get a bit pricey with 4 fans and the gear thing.

Looks great in the air for sure.
