Simple, buy the hitec flash 5x. The G version gets you hs-81 servos and 555 receiver. Should run about $200 complete. If money is tight, the 4X is just about as good. You lose some bells and whistles but can get verion with 2 81 servos and the 555 receiver for around $150-$160.

I have the 4x and have been very happy with it. I just ordered the 5x version so I can fly along with with my 10 year old boy. Of course he will get my 4x and I get the new 5x with the extra features (woohoo).

I love my Flash 5. Chris at www.anythingrc.com has them and will trade out the HS81s for HS55s for the cost difference if you want lighter servos.

I have a Flash 5X, it's a nice radio. Don't use it much sence getting a Futaba Super 8.

The Flash 5 gives exponential and additional mixing options if I remember. It's worth the few extra dollars over the 4.
It is avalable as the transmitter only from Hobby Horse. If you fly solw flyers only or money is tight thats the way to go.
Even with the higher priced "G" flight pack (Rx 555, Servo HS81) is too heave for the light stuff.
IMHO

Whoa partner, thats FLASH 5X, not FOCUS. I think the Hobby Club has the Flash 5X-G with 3 HS-81's and a 555 reciever for a little over $180. It is a great radio!! By the time you add in the cost of the extra servo, the 4X and 5X are about the same price but the 5X has a LOT more features.

jh2,

I'm in a similar situation. I'm flying with a Futaba conquest 6 channel, but I can't mix for flaperons. It looks like if you ever want flaperons go with the flash 5x. The 5x also has dual rates, which can come in handy. Hobby lobby has good price too on the 5x-g.

Who said anything about a "Focus", cept jh2 in his first post?:confussed:

Another option if you have the airborn setup already, is the Eclipse. It would mix anything you want. Then you can have 7 planes on 1 TX. About the same price as the Flash system.

Take a look at the Multiplex CockpitMM. I just got mine and looks and feels great. It has 9 model mem, 7 channels,v tail, flaperon, spoileron, etc. and even program the thing with my computer. Downside is the manual is for those who know what they're doing. So there's alot to learn. I like the stopwatch feature with an alarm. Has an easy to understand readout. www.multiplex.com
