What is the best way to sand EPP square edges to round fuselage without tearing out whole beads of foam?

Tips from DAW that i found most useful: Only sand in one direction, and do roughing out with very sharp blade.

What type of foam did I salvage? I thought it was EPP. I've never seen EPP, but it was quite resistant to dents and firm, but it would not break. It is not a bead foam, but just the oposite. The many airholes are round.

So, what type of foam is it?

Does anyone have any experience using a belt sander, inverted on a bench to have both hands free, to shape epp foam?

Someone was talking about using an electric knife on it a few months back...

I've been able to cut the shape of the fuselage with a band saw, then sand the fuselage with a belt sander. For "interior work (like clearing out a battery bay) I would use a dremel tool and a sanding bit.
