Just an update as a beginner with my first DLG. For me, very sensitive on the elevator. Went all the way down to 20% with 30% expo. The fuse is not durable for a few slow nose first landings. Added a few braces using the spare 3mm balsa along the sides in entire top opening. So much more sturdy. Added a few more grams, however so much better.

Other than that, had such a great time.

Let me know what throws you are using.. And any mods...

Update, if you got the kit with servos. Throw them out. The don't have any resolution. They step instead of a smooth follow of the stick.

Wind Runner shortcuts

Has anyone else built and flown the WRunner yet? I have been flying mine for a few months. I have flown many types of DLG's and RES type gliders over the years. With a few adjustments here and there (and hundreds of throws) I am able to say that it is a very challenging yet highly enjoyable thermal glider. Let me know if anyone has any questions with either building or flying the Wind Runner.

Windrunner Kit

Popad, Many thanks for your build diary, and thanks for reporting on the kinks and difficulties you had.

Anyone contemplating this kit, which appears to be a real bargain, understand that it is in no way evolved, with unhelpful plan pics, iffy material choices (the 3mm carbon rods for main spars) and design, random strange laser cuts, plan errors, excess unneeded balsa pieces, and a wing design that a wet noodle would put to shame for torsional stiffness. This lack of stiffness will rear its ugly head when you cover. Go ahead, try to cover it without warping the wing. I am on my 3rd attempt and baffled.

If you bought the covering option as I did, well, it is OK, but a real step down from Oracover or the like. Not easy to use, not forgiving and, well, just cheap.

Am I a Hater? Nah, just surprised at the lack of polish on this kit. It is like Dancing Wings threw the kit out without ever asking someone to build it, and then comment on the process.

Unevolved. At this point I would not recommend it to anyone.
