How much have you spent on this hobby?

Well im at work on my own today, so ive been looking at my old bankstatements online, and since i started flying in august 2004 ive spent just under 1000 on this hobby - i thought it was closer to the 500 mark, i would hate to guess how much of that has been "wasted purchases" as i taught myself to fly. Im not complaining as i love this hobby, just a bit of an eye opener (even more so considering ive only just got my money affairs back in the black after years and years in the red)

P.S. heres a list of planes ive had/have

GWS beaver
West wings pinto

I try not to think about it. The way I figure it, I would just waste what I am spending on something not as fun. But if I had to add it all up, I would say close to a grand since Oct 05. Ouch!

Like some of the others, I try not to think about it too much...but I would venture to guess about $2000 in the past year. It seems weird when I do think about it. Normally I'm very frugal & penny pinching about everything, micromanaging every cent...and all of that has really paid off for me...till I walk into the LHS & drop $350 on a set up, go back the next week & drop another $150 on accessories...and not think a thing about it.

My Spending

Well...here are some things I don't have....

No exotic sports car
No Nascar tickets
No season football tickets
No boat
No kids
No drinking habbit
No golfing habbit

Just addicted to these damn model airplanes! So if I spend a little money on modeling and I have fun with it, its' great!

My wife even encourages it. Says it keeps me out of strip clubs. . Wow, I never looked at the economics of it that way.
One lap dance = One brushless motor. Two lap dances practically = a brushless motor and a speed controller. Hmmm as usual, my wife is right.

Ive never kept track. Ever. I HAVE been modeling heavily from 1983 to present, tho, with only a three year period of "Hiatus", which really only means that I just didnt do it as much as I usually do.

Started modelling about 1952--never added it all up, but my guess it would have gone a long way towards paying for a new Porsche. I did get the Porsche about 12 years ago--but it is now 43 years old. Her name is Fast Freida.

LOL I think this thread should be deleted!! j/k

Your never supposed to add up the costs!! Everyone knows that. Imagine if your significant other ever found out that number. Beside it makes you feel bad when you add up the numbers.
