Sanyo Xacti VPC HD1EX supports 720p HDTV video, weighs 205grams

This looks like a very interesting device for high-quality 1280x720 aerial video:

Records MPEG4 30fps files on SD cards. 1GB gives you 20 minutes of video. Check it out.

205 grams = 7.2 ounces

Yup. I'm waiting for it to get here. The price isn't too bad either.

I was looking at the HD1 sample movies at Steeve's Digicam and they seem to be better than all I ever seen in this weight category. I guess, the average RC helicopter is not so limited regarding the weight of a camcorder, but the HD1 may be the best option for the guy who wants to shoot some quality videos from a Magpie size plane.

I'm itching for one of these, only they cost ~$1100 here in Norway.

The "problem" is surely not the 640*480 modus...

one has to point out, that there`s no Software on the market to
be able to work with this 1280*720 modus .

So you buy a cam - and you`ve no possibility to design your AP-videos

IMHO its better to use a plane / heli able to carry the Sony HC3

The german tests show less, less video quality than p.ex. Sony HC1

You seem right; My samples just won't be recognised by either MS Movie Maker or Premiere-6... How could Sanyo put a camcorder on the market knowing no one will be able to edit the rushes ?
