There is a thread dedicated to this version of the KC camera here
Read the first few posts for buying one from the recommended sellers.

I just maidened my Minimag. All went well especially considering it was almost 8 years ago since I last flew. After getting it trimmed out it felt quite good. I´m using the following setup:

Motor: Mega 16/15/4
ESC: Jeti Advance 18 Pro
Battery: Thunder Power G6 Prolite 2700 2s
Prop: Graupner Slowfly 6.5x4.5
Servos: 4 x Emax ES08A
RX: Frsky V8R7-II HV

AUW is 604 grams and the power feels just right for this type of plane. With the battery straight off the charger I measured around 20.5 amps.

That sounds great Erik,
I just picked up a couple of bigger motors and was going to replace the tired alpha 370 in my MM. Have not flown her in months. Was thinking of using a 400 class this time for a bit more power.

I was thinking about upgrading my 370 to a 450 or 480. Needs more power and speed sometimes.

The Nav lights I added look cool in my hobby room, but are really kinda useless while flying unless I keep it close. This plane needs to start doing something special or I don't see me flying it much.

450 or 480 sounds like overkill. Not sure how much power or speed is needed on this little trainer. Granted, the stock 400 brushed setup was lethargic at best.

The lights look great on it, put more on and make in a true night flier. The thin strips of led lights weigh next to nothing, don't cost much, and light up the sky.

Make it into a tow/tug plane for smaller gliders, or put floats on it for water/snow use.

It is a really great plane for its intended purpose....3ch trainer that can also easily be equipped to be an aileron trainer. What do you do with it when you have outgrown it then? Not much fun without at least some power. It's not a speed demon either. I say either give it a new home for some one that needs a trainer or mod her up! Nothing wrong with doing either.. With a 370, mine sits. If I step her up a little I will at least fly it some more. A glider tow or sea plane is a good start too.

I originally bought it to put floats on it. However, I then realized that the lake I was going to fly it from was private with no public access. I was living in FL when I bought it, and have now moved to Jersey. It's my first winter here, so I don't know how much snow to expect, but it's not looking like a lot so far. I'm not sure floats are the way to go for me.
Not so sure this is the right plane for night flying. I would think I would want something (and don't laugh) slower, and maybe something that can fly in a smaller space, as well as maybe a bit more aerobatic. Night flying is something I have been dying to try, but this is not the plane for it.
I'm thinking I either need much more speed/power to make it interesting, or I need to come up with that one special thing to make it a really cool one trick pony. I have a 480 sitting around waiting for a use. Afraid it might be a bit much for this airframe, though. Wouldn't be the first wings to rip off, or fold up on me. Wonder if it would haul RC skydivers? Not sure what kind of weight those would bring, but I would much rather take one up with a plane before a heli. A remote hatch or drop latch might be interesting for a few different things.

RC Skydiver Charly survived Heli crashed. Nice Jump Logo 400 (1 min 49 sec)

Its got plenty of lift for a skydiver. as for the wings, in addition to the wing bolt, just ad some Velcro under the wings and stick in your 480.... take it easy the first few flights, then progressively get more aggressive, looking for signs of stress. So long as you don't do any power dives, I think you will be fine....

What to do with your mini mag

Well I've been flying rc since the 60's

so why do I fly a mini mag (have 3 ,2 land 1 floats) well its a great fun
airplane - I use it to warm up ,mine are all 4 channel the 2 land ones
are fully areobatic and everyone is amazed at how well it flys even in windy
conditions - inverted I can fly it 2-3 feet over the runway
so before I fly something expencive this is fun .

its also small so I alway have one in van in case a chance to fly comes up
it flys in small places - and its quiet
