Not cheating, that's what mixes are for.

Another MiniMag maiden coming soon

Finally got round to completing my Minimag.

It's going to be my "keep in the boot of the car, everyday general purpose, funfly model". I'm hoping to find an opportunity for the maiden sometime in the next 4 days.

A few specs for those who are interested:

Motor: Generic BLO 2212/10 - 1500kv - 150w - aprox 50g
Prop: Master Airscrew GF 8x4
ESC: generic 20w
Servos: Hitec HS55 x3 + 1 other @9g
Lipo: 3S 1800mah 20c

AUW = 605g

I've omitted the tail wheel option and kept decoration to a minimum. So, nothing really special to look at but, hopefully a good, practical fun flyer. Aileron throws set to double recommended (HR) and 1.5 x recommended (LR).

I will take some pre maiden pics and will report back post maiden.

Successful maiden today.

Perfect conditions for a maiden flight this morning so off to the field with the Minimag and a few other models.

I arrived at the flying field at 9.30 am and met up with the usual gang. A final double check of all controls, ( I opted for LR as detailed in my earlier post ) a short motor run up and a final CG check confirmed that all was green to go.

So, I placed the Minimag on the ground facing directly into the very light breeze. A litttle back stick and I progressively opend the throttle. The model smoothly accelerated and left terra firma smoothly and effortlessly. Once up at a reasonable height I did the usual trim checks.......I didn't need a single click of trim on any of the flying surfaces!

The model flew straight and level at about 1/4 throttle, and when advancing the throttle showed a tad, but no dramitic tendency to pitch up. I was all prepared to do the velcro wing incidence mod but I'm going to leave things as they are......for me it was spot on.

After just a couple of minutes of flying the model I knew that it was going to be perfect for my present needs; filling the gap between my 24" Tetra and my Fun Cub; both in terms of size and flying characteristics. Indeed, I was so confident with the Minimag I did a couple of loops, and spent much of the flight flying much lower than I would do normally on a maiden. The landing was a non event and the Minimag reacquainted itsef with terra firma in the same smooth and effortless way in which it left it. Next time out I will see how well (or not) the model rolls and try a spot of inverted flight.

As you can probably guess, I am more than happy with the Minimag. It's very easy to fly but also appears to offer flying potential that belies it's "Trainer" tag. I look forward to flying this fantastic little plane again at the earliest opportunity.

I attach a couple of post maiden pics.

Man I wanna try floats. Having trouble locating a lake that isn't private and doesn't have a million trees blocking the view. Would floats work in snow?

floats work fantastic in the snow. I use them on T-28 and the Funcub, Twinstars too.

I have a new in package set for the minimag if you're interested, less than retail too!

Haven't visited this thread or flown my MM for a while but got her out to the park last weekend. Nice day with very little breeze. Had some nice flights and even some with my KC camera under the wing for a bit of in flight video. I even have some loops and rolls from the planes perspective . The landing was a nose over due the the long and wet grass but was very low speed. Enjoy.
