Mattias Hammarskiold HUMBUG 2 has an AUW of 220g=7,75 Oz and it stands + 200ft launches...several European top pilots have testes to break this lady on launch, but she is still alive and kicking. Hi Brendan,
I'm sorry to say that they don't produce this toysfor the public. It is actually two brothers (Mattias as mentioned and Stefan Wahlberg), both well known in Europe, who built 2 planes like this trying to reach 70m = 230ft for this years season. Mabye they will reveal the specifications so you could bag your own wing and fit on a light fuse... I'll tell them to comment to you! So, enough about the HUMBUG 2 now on this thread... Guys, more planes and weight, thx! What's out there? Cheers Jonas Ekman ps. on the homepage you'll find the log of a +200ft trow with this model. Click Heights http://www.f3k.se/ |

The wing is a bagged full carbon wing using 33 g/m2 CFcloth (Stafan or Mattias pls verify). I don't now which foam they used. Tailfeathers are lightweight balsa covered with 12g/m2 carbon "cloth". I'm not sure if they used a reinforced allegro boom, http://tailboom.com/, or not? The fuse is a Fireworks III fuse. Cheers Jonas Ekman |

I thought it may be cloth, thanks for verifying. That plane is a work of art!

Hi !
Just want to verify some of Jonas statements. The wing is bagged with 66 grams carbon. The wingarea is just about 17 dm2. On the tail is as you said balsa with 12 grams carbon tissue. The fuselage on the picture is a Fireworks 3 original. Myself made an own fuse (a'la Supergee, but smaller) using a standard tailboom.com. If someones interested both models are for sale (for the right price) /Stefan Wahlberg |

Puuurty! I like the wings with sweep on the tips. Makes it look like the planform of a DuoDiscus wing.
I'm going out on a limb but do the wings have a higher aspect ratio? In the picture it looks like it has a shorter chord than the neighboring plane. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/atta...hmentid=603544 |

I think that plane has a fixed vertical. No rudder or rudder servo. Dwain |

You guys don't miss anything! Yes there is no rudder since Mattias truly goes for highest launch possible and feels that a rudder on the fin "softens" the tail to much. He has also tried using BIG fins (I think I've seen +38 sq in) to minimise the yaw The plane beside the Humbug 2 is Mattias Fireworks3, also without rudder. He has flown like this the last 3 years I think, carrying that drawback in thermalturns, not be able..aaa you know, still performing very well in comp. And as you already figured it out the HUMBUG 2 has a very high aspect ratio wing compared to "normal" DLG ships, The reason is the same as for not using a rudder. Is a high aspect ratio wing launching higher that a "normal", they needed to test that? If we speak about wing loading I think they ended up as a 9-9,5 Oz SG! Cheers Jonas Ekman |

We have seen that this smaller lighter glider launches approx 10% higher than our normal DLG's of 310g. New tests will come. Regards Mattias Hammarskiöld |
