Pano of South Mountain in Phoenix AZ

Hey All,

I got a chance to shoot some AP from my inlaws house this weekend at the East end of South Mountain in Phoenix Arizona. The winds were pretty rough from the South at about 10-12mph. Shot my poor ol' SS wayyyyyy up there (1001ft acording to the Z-Log). I shot a bunch of picts of the area. I'll try to post some individual shots later. I did manage to put together about a 5 shot spread of South Mountain (looking West), resized to post here so the quality is greatly diminished. The range runs West to East, I was flying from the East end. I may just have to print this one out.

On one half of the picture you see a harsh desert landscape, and on the other half there is a quiet suburb. This contrast is what I like about this picture.

South Mountian is the largest municipal park in the world. It is owned by the City of Phoenix and there is a road to the top from S. Phoenix where you can see the entire Metro Phoenix area. Its a Megaplex these days! There are 200 miles of foot and Bike trails which snake through the natural desert of the park. Cacti abound! I know because I have hiked the entire mountian several times. If you ever get to Phoenix a drive up to Dobbins point is a must as well as a trek into the wild desert. Just do it in the winter and watch out for Rattle Snakes.

I live about 5 miles ESE of the picture's location. Great pic Qual!

Is it a composite photo or have you cropped from a larger image? I'd like to see it in higher res. too

Thanks Johnnz!

It is comprised of 5 images stitched together with Autostitch, then cleaned up with Photoshop.

I will get a higher res version up tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

I'm trying to get another pano from the same flight looking to the East on that same sortie, but the shots are tilted in a few of the shots and I am trying to work them out.
