Century Swift Power and Setup question thread

As the name implies, ask anything you want about the Swift. Now that it is in the consumers hands I think this will help you all alot. Plus I am getting many PMs about the same.

Here is the first power thread I had; https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...t=Swift+power+

So ask away and I will answer it all!!

That would work fine. But it will require trimming the canopy to fit and has 500 less capacity than the TP pack at the same weight.

74 amps cont is pushing things with those, I would also not run that pack at 20C cont, they are Enerland cells and 16C is about the most I would push them continuous, Flight power overrate their cells as a marketing ploy, Aircraft-world who sells the Polyquest brand (same Enerland cells) are far more honest and state 16C cont as realisitc if you want the cells to last a few cycles.

Depends on the motor you use of course and how you fly, they should be good for 60amps cont though.

It is going to depend on the heli and setup really.

Most normal flying is only going to require 25-40 amps. I only pulled 67 amps on full climb outs from a hard decent.

I would not go with any cell that can't give up 15c MAX based on 4000ma. So a 12c pack may work fine.

Please, lets not turn this into a battery discussion. I would like to concentrate on the Swift setup questions.

In the title of the thread it says "Century Swift Power and Setup question thread"

Isn't the battery part of the power setup or do we just get to hear about the 6s2p TP packs? (I know they're the ONLY packs this bird was built for)

What servos would you recommend?

Fred,

I thought it was stated in an earlier thread that 6s1p would not work. If 6s1p will work can I just use 2 3s1p packs from my T-Rex?

I guess there's no reason why not if the power handling is adequate .... bit miffed about FlightPower lying about the discharge rate, AND the fact that they're still just Polyquest packs under a different label .... grrrrr.

Is the ORK good for duration flying? If not, which motor is best? Or is it more the battery that determines duration? .... I imagine the type of motor has an impact though?

Thanks

How many teeth does the main gear have? I thought I saw genovia post specs saying 96T. Is this correct?

Neu 1910-2Y on 10s1p 2100's ought to do well with a 10 or 11 tooth pinion

OK, lets see if I can get all this out.

The Swift has been flown on 12 SC cells (3300), 4s3p lipos (6000), 6s1p Lipos 3250 and 4650) and 6s2p lipos (4000 and 4200).

All the batteries could supply the power demanded for the motor used.

The 4s and 12 cells were used with the Hacker and the Century 550 outrunner.

If the packs can give up 25-40 amps cont and 60-70 surge they will work. How they work, are labeled or whatever really doesn't matter. Just buy good packs, not just the cheapest

The 6s packs were used on the 550 outrunner (got really hot ) Tango 45-10 and the 1905 and 1907 Orks.

The Ork would work great for duration but keep the pitch around 8 max. It hovers at 4!!

Yes, the main gear is a 96t module 1 like the Logo 20. Almost every motor I used ran either a 10t or 11t.

Yes, the 1910 on 10s should be even better. The 1907 barely bogs with my setup, but better blades will sure that.

I like both the Hitec 5475HB ($35) and the 475HB ($18). One is digital, both have karbonite gears, dual BB and weigh just 1.4 oz.

I don't think the Hacker 13L will work with the Swift gearing. Inrunners like to run at 40-50K and the smallest pinion is a 8t, giving a 12:1 ratio. So 40K / 12 is like a 3300 HS.
