FT Goblin Frankenstein

I love my little Goblin but it lands too hot and stresses the foam. So I extended the wings with some short extensions, stepped on top and bottom and now it lands just as fast but with a lot less sink rate and just slides along the ground. It is a bit slower in flight and has nice slow rolls. I enjoy it a lot more now though it has a bit of a strange shape in the air. 1806 motor (tiny and no torque) with 1600mah worth of lipo in the nose. A real glider. Doesn't do loops, no power.

Update 9/29: flew this morning on 800mah battery and got 10+ minute flight.

If you think about it, take a photo of the wing tip so I can see how you mounted it, and tell me how long you made the extension.
thanks!

Sure. It is 8cm longer than the orignal wingtip though the actual new wingtip is overlapping the bottom of the wing up to the end of the wing spar. The new wing tip is 7cm wide. I just use scrap foam pieces that came with the kit so that is why it looks so cobbled together which it is. There is a step on the top and bottom that is required to act as spars for the wingtip as I tried to fly it without these step/spars and the tip was so flexible the plane did not want to turn. After adding the steps the wing tips are very rigid and strong. I also added a vertical piece to the bottom of the wing to act as a skid and help protect the wingtip on landing.
The wing extension may look like several steps but there is only one on the top and one on the bottom - the other step looking lines are just pieces hot glued together to make up one big wing extension. Could have been done prettier but it seems to function just fine.

My next one I will make nice aerodynamic extenstions but I was in a hurry to get this one flying. Rainy season here so have to fly in a small window of opportunity.

This foam is PVC foam; comes with no paper and is very tough stuff. I will never go back to dollartree foam or EPP.

Thank you for the explanation. I am preparing to scratchbuild my own and will incorporate your suggestion for a longer wing from the beginning.

Great. Will be interested in your build. I will put a 2406 motor on mine at some point but it is still a joy to fly as is. Good luck.
