testing method you use to rate ESC


I am b newbie of modeling and have a difficulty of understanding the word. Can any help me understand "rate" in this context?

"Rate" in that context would be related to determining the maximum current the ESC can safely handle with a given amount of cooling, e.g. the amount of current that the ESC can produce without the heat "piling up" and burning it out.

Something that's been missing for me is a table or chart of RC size classes.

I see .60 (I'm guessing is gas/nitro engine size, 60cc), 450 size, park flyer, micro, peanut, ultra micro, etc. What do these all mean? How do they relate to the size of a plane?

Any links to relevant information would be helpful--even search keywords. Google isn't being much help.

But 60cc is a large gas motor and a .60 is a medium nitro motor.

parkflyer is a small electric airplane/heli. Micro and ultra micro are just different size of parkflyers. Peanut is usually describing small free flight or rubber band powered airplanes.

No stupid questions if you don't know the answer.

PM = Private Message. Its just a forum thing, not RC. Click on the little mail icon under someones name or go to there home page by clicking on there name and scroll down until you have the option to send private message or e-mail.

I still can't figure out PLF and VLF? Some form of his kit completeness I think. Maybe PM him and ask.

It took some Google Fu skill, but I finally found it!

VLF (vertically laminated fuselage), and PLF (perpendicularly laminated fuselage)

I am a beginner to this hobby. I bought Easy Sky Yak-12 (ARF) and it came with the motor mounted in the nose. Only problem I see is that the shaft of the motor is tilting slightly down and to the right. Is this normal.

The motor is mounted on a spring loaded plate with 3 screws and the screws can be adjusted to change the angle of the shaft. But I was not sure id the angle was purposely kept to get rid of torque of the motor or something.

Please let me know if I should change the motor angle to straigh ahead.
