Navigation lights on Alfa

Hi all,

I'm newbie to this forum

I'm putting navigation lights on my Thor Alfa and I have some doubts.
The light on top of rudder, What colour is it? White? Yellow? And … is the light always “on” or blinking?

I saw some time ago an Alfa with a blinking light on “market buoy”. Is this light accurate correct ?

Well, as you can see, I’m a little confused about navigation light
I have only clear two of them, red and green located on sail.

Thanks you.

The light is white and steady on.
The lights in the sail of the Alfa were opened manually by the crew. A job they hated in rough sea. They swing out from closed about 45 degrees and lock in place.
I have a photo of the bouy. I do not see a light on it.But, it probably has on, I would think. No fact there.Just opinion. Could not upload the picture. File size too large.

Hi,

Open the lights manually on sail !! It had to be hard at artic weather.
The most “automated submarine” at their time and have to open manually the lights…. just curious
This submarine never lets surprise to me. 

The picture showing light edge sail, I haven’t seen before! Thank you for the pic !

Ok, we have these lights on Alfa:

- Sail starboard: Green
- Sail port: Red
- Sail edge: ??
- Upper rudder ??
- Bouy: Not sure

Do you know what color were they ? (edge of the sail and upper rudder). White ?
Perhaps I don’t make my Alfa right accurate about scribed lines, holes…. But I would like to put the lights most accurate possible

Eloka, Interesting picture, Could you post it again without any mark made by you, please? Or better, send me at alfa_705@hotmail.com Thanks !!

Thanks you
Regards.

White. Both of them. Very common on Russian submarines. I have color pictures of other classes as well with them on.
I may be wrong here, but is that not international standard?

Found this in the International Nav Rules...

In addition to the standard 112.5 degree red and green port and starboard sidelights and white 225 degree masthead and 135 degree stern light---

International Nav Rules Part A General Rule 1
Submarines may display, as a distinctive means of identification, an all-round intermittent flashing amber (yellow) beacon with a sequence of operation of one lfash per second for three seconds followed bu a three second off-period.

Hi all !

first of all, thank you for your replies.
I found this schema of Typhoon class. It show 3 lights on stern and
I would like to know your expert opinion about (sorry for my insistence ):

Which one colours are they ?
Light number 1, Is symetrical ? in other words, Does this light is located on the another side of the rudder too?

Dou you think Alfa class could had the same distribution of lights on stern ?

thanks you again !

I was watching a dvd I have the other day and noted the nav lights on an Oscar at twilight.
The light at the leading edge is white and flashes. The lights halfway down the rudder are also white.
Sorry, I forgot what color the one at the top rear was. Will have to watch it again. But the plans you show are from polar bear, and color marked on the origional plans as to color of the lights.
