Making wings from EPP, is it possible?

I just got a few sheets of EPP foam (6mm & 8mm) and looking at it, it is far weaker than depron. Is it possible to use it for the wings?
I wish we could get bluecor down here, would make it so much easier...

Lots of 3D flyers are 6 and 9 mm epp. They cut a slot in the middle and glue a carbonfiber rod or tube in to stiffen it up. I have epoxied 2 6mm layers, with a spar in the middle and shaped it into a airfoil. Worked quite well. I do the same for the fuselage. Butch

Stuart, EPP is a lot more Durable than any other Foam out there. Yes, it's possible to build wings from the sheets you have. You could build one like Butch suggests, a flat wing with a Cf spar, just like on the Flat foamie 3D planes out there. You could also build a built up, and sheeted wing, like done with Depron. Everything in the wing will be EPP, including the spar which is reinforced with some CF. But the thinner EPP is better for this.

Can it be moulded with heat like depron? as I only want to make a simple wing for the STC from it. For this it needs to hold it's shape.... I love the fact you can bend it just bounces back, but makes it hard for forming wings..... other than flat ones that is.. perfect for my IPS Zero which i cant fly, the depron one lasted about 2 lunches before it snaped....

Not sure about moulding it. From my experience EPP has a pretty low "softening" point, if you can call it that. When I tried forming once, even a little heat started to "change" the surface, I'm not sure how to describe this. I think it should be possible to form the wing on a pipe or something. You could then use a couple of ribs and a CF spar. Try it!

Thanks, i was thinking about the ribs to hold the shape, just wasnt sure if that was how to do it... or if it would even work... wonder what it would cost to ship two packets of bluecor to New Zealand?... almost worth looking into.
