Jeff,
Glad to see your UBEC finally make it to market! I've been impatiently waiting! ![]() Thanks! P.S. One request...if I had a choice, I would prefer a long, skinny UBEC unit...one that would fit down a skinny glider tailboom. Twice the length, half the width would be perfect for most of my planes. Any chance of getting one of these? |

To prove a point...I used the first production UBEC in my Embat. The UBEC was taped to the floor of the fuse....then I taped my Rx to the UBEC.
The UBEC does not have to be "mounted" anywhere. Just stick any place it will fit. Since it taps off of the ESC input leads...it could just lay on top of the ESC. Carbon fiber does not affect the UBEC. All it's doing is taping power out of your battery and regulating it to 5 volts for your Rx. I have personaly been using the unit since last summer in my own planes. A few months ago we sent out units all over the country for guys to use them in their planes. 100% reported excellent results. As far as size goes... the UBEC is smaller than most 35 amp and up speed controls. If your ESC fits...the UBEC should fit. We cannot change the dimensions as we had the board custom made for this particular product. Best Regards, Jeff Meyers |

Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. Did anyone test the UBEC in a 24-27 cell F5B plane, by chance? What about a helicopter? |

Jeff, I'm interested. How much will you charge me for a unit that can run on 32 cells? I will be using this in a heli with three 9202's and a 9205, is cooling going to be a problem?
Thanks Chris |

Scott,
The UBEC was not tested in a heli or a F5B plane. It was tested in a 24 and 28 cell sport plane. (and many others) However, it will work fine with those two applications. Remember that with a heli...when the pack starts to drain you are landing anyways. I have already had many heli pilots order the UBEC. My friend / business partner is the one who designed the UBEC. His primary interest is LMR events. His original reason for designing the UBEC was that it is well know that trusting the BEC in a speed control during high current runs is not wise. Every year a few planes go down at the NATS for this reason. (So I've been told, I'm not a NATS competitor) Regards, Jeff |

Chris,
The UBEC can be upgraded to handle 40 volts input. This would cover your needs. Volts do not heat up the UBEC...current heats it up. I will clarify this on the site. Long story short...an upgraded UBEC will work fine for you. As far as special orders go...these are made to order. It will take 2-3 weeks to get the "high voltage" UBEC shipped once payment is recieved. The cost for a 40 volt UBEC is $40 + $2 shipping. This lead time will be reduced once more parts arrive. Best Regards, Jeff Meyers |

Very cool. I have been debating designing one of these myself, and now I don't have to. Do you take credit cards? Can I just call the number on your site with my info?
Thanks Chris |

Sent you a PM Chris...
Currently, all we can take is checks, money orders and Pay Pal. Being a two item "business"...we aren't all that fancy. ![]() Although...product #3 is already in the works. ![]() |

The yellow thing under the white 8-cell pack is my Ultimate BEC that replaces my receiver battery on my Astro Flight 625G power system. Not only have I eliminated the hassle of having to charge my Rx. battery but I also dropped 2.5 ounces in weight.
Great product, Jeff! Click here for a larger image. |
