I made a new R33. Step 15 and 16 from manual are finished. Then I prepare pieces for nex steps. I must replace some pieces: R15, R27, R32, because I little modify fuselaje for my motor.

I have prepared the parts to start work according to step 17 ... It is working ...

Today I finished the step started yesterday, the 17th, and continued with steps 18, 19 and 20. I finished the fuselage, which is now ready for covering with Oralight. A lot of sanding stuff

A test to see how the wing sits on the fuselage. It's ok. I strengthened the attack board with CA ( Super glue with brush ). Then I corrected the small imperfections of the fuselage using "White model lite (lite weight) filler", and small aesthetic corrections to the wing.

Today step 21 from manual.
Sand all elevator parts L1, L2 and L3 as well as rudder parts L4 and L5 Sand and bevel according to the shaded cuts in the plan. I have ensured that the specified rudder deflections are achieved. The tail surfaces are mounted on the fuselage only after the covering. |

Today I covered with Oralight fuselage, wing and tail parts.
I made a cone from balsa, for case that I will want to fly this glider without motor. I made hinge for rudder and elevator from Oralight. I use a carbon band 0.5 mm to be sure that they cover the necessary movements. Almost ready for final assembly .

Small, delicate operations done with great care.
I prepared the parts for gluing with epoxy. I prepared the control rods and servo levers. I adjusted the place to allow correct movement of the elevator and the rudder. |

I glue the F27 wing anchor in position using 5M EPOXY.
The next step is to check the horizontality of the wing and the elevator, and then I will glue elevator in place. |

Today, I check the horizontality of the wing and the elevator, and then I will glue elevator in place. Then I glue rudder, checking 90 degrees with elevator.
Now ready to install motor, ESC, UBEC, servos, and controll rods ... |

In the evening I prepared the electrical part in two versions: with motor or without motor.
With motor, the weight will be 274 grams. Without motor 214 grams. The difference - 60 grams - is given by the motor, ESC and folding propeller with turbo cone and the related plugs and cables. |

An unpleasant surprise. The control rods in the kit are too short, they should be at least one or two centimeters longer!
I replaced them with other rods from my personal stock, and the second surprise. The hole for the steering control lever is too low, so I made another one higher. Then I glued the two control levers. I fixed the servo with hot glue. I think the details can be seen well in the pictures. |

Today I finished the version without engine.
I mounted the control rods. Trims on center, ready for fine tuning at the airfield. Then I looked for the CG. Initially it was about 9 cm. I had to bring it to 48 mm, as the manual says. From 3 iterations I brought it to 49 mm, then I also checked it by balancing. I had to add 40 grams of metal (Robbe). Now I have to see how it flies in this version. I am waiting for a day with suitable wind for the first flight tests... ImagesView all Images in thread |

I already have UBEC installed, so I prepared a cable to power the two circuits:
1 - UBEC, Rx, Servos; 2 - Engine, ESC. Thus, from the received motor kit, I will not use either the 5V or the 8.4V cable - they are isolated. I have prepared the engine mounting. Next comes the adaptation of the fuselage to receive this engine... |

At the end of construction. After trying to make the motor assembly, ESC, cone and propeller removable, I decided to glue it permanently.
Then I redid the balancing. 48.6mm CG, very close to manual. I had to maintain 27.3 grams. I removed the UBEC, because the ESC delivers 5V, and enough amperage for the servos. There is room for a bigger battery, maybe 350-450 mAh 2S. Now let's see how he behaves at the airfield... |
