Midwest .049DF A4 Skyhawk

Hello,

I remember way back in 1978 or 1979 Midwest came out with a foam model of the A4 Skyhawk for this kress 049 df unit. Does Midwest still produce this kit? Though the kress unit looks great, I have a similar electric 550 df unit from Morley Helicopters which I presume can be used in the midwest kit. Anybody out there where I can get the Midwest A4 kit?

Thanks.

It's been out of production for a long time. I fly ic jets and just started in electrics - I know what you mean though , with todays technology some of the old kits would sell like hotcakes. I've wanted one of these for a long time. on a very rare occation you can find them on e-bay, but don't hold your breath!

It's the original kit from the '70s. Midwest also made the Axiflo
ducted fan units for it for the Cox .049. Haven't looked at it for a
long time. When I just checked it, I think I see why I never finished
it. It does Not have foam wings or stab. The wings are built up using
balsa ribs and balsa sheeting. As you can see from the manual below,
the first item on the parts list is 10 sheets of 1/16x3x21" wing sheeting!
Unfortunately the box doesn't seem to have the balsa parts in it. When
I put all my gasser stuff away 20 years ago, I just kinda put everything
into a pile so the parts may be around somewhere in another box.
I'll look around and let you know, so don't get too excited yet.
Specs: 36" span, 33" length, 28 oz! Heavy, but that was back when
radio systems were much larger than today and the fan wasn't
very light either.
